Thanks everyone, i thought I had subscribed to my thread but hadn't so when I checked in and saw all these replies I was a bit overwhelmed.

I have been on these sites on and off for about a year under a couple of names but smiales is my permanent!

I think that I feel surprised by the responses because OH and I have been so low for such a long time that we have almost forgotten what its like to be happy. God that sounds depressing, everyday isn't bad, we do have fun occasionally and we have stuck together through it all which is a great thing, so many couples don't make it through debt. I'm proud of that. But yes its fair to say that the overall view of our lives is not so great. It seems that we have have a ridiculous spate of bad luck, if that is even the right wording.

The debt is our fault, it didn't 'happen' to us, we should have known better than to think we could cope with what we took on financially. But that is hindsight and it can't be changed, it took this to make us learn. Its a pretty hard way to learn. With regard to the other things that have happened is beyond bad luck, its life and its s**t. Anyone that has lost someone they love or seen someone they love ill will understand the way it affects your life.

Going bankrupt has been the best thing we have done, despite all of what is still going on, its hard to think that at times but it is true. I am absolutely dreading court next week, I'm petrified that the Judge will come down on us like a ton of bricks because of the tax issue, if we hadn't messed that up I would be more confident but I think it will just make us look really bad and then the judge will go against us however he/she can. There is nothing we can do about stopping it happening so we have to ride it out. I will keep you all informed, court is on thursday so i have a few days to get prepared. Like OH says, at least this time next week we will know whats happening once and for all......

The Or didnt tell you about the nill tax code bit and if it wasnt for this aND THE OTHER PLACE YOU WOULD BE NON THE WISER WOULD YOU?;)

so just remember that it is the OR,s failing not explaining what it meant not yours (just dont mention we explained it to you ok;) )
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

Hi Smiales...well done & lots of hugs to you both!!

Gosh what a post!! you have both been through so much!! This next week is just another part of the journey & you will survive it!!

Whatever happens in court on Thursday remember that this is YOUR opportunity to put your side of things across. Make sure that you take along the timeline of events / reasons etc. The court will realise that you want to sort everything & the tax issue was a mistake that you are willing to rectify.

Take care Honey...& keep posting...some of your experience has helped me this evening ( I too got into this position from property renovation..bet there are many of us out there!!). I was interested in your saying `going bankrupt was the best thing we have done`...even though its been the hardest!!

    So thankyou, Angiexx

Just wanted to say good luck with it all, it's great to see you're sticking together through it all. Take the court hearing as a real opportunity to lay out your situation and your side.

Take care, big hugs and keep posting!!

Thanks for your messages, nice to come clean about our situation, think getting it all written down is helping me to get my head around it all. Only a few days until the court date now. God I'm dreading it, trying very hard to keep on top of things but its so hard.

On a lighter note I have PMT and haven't lost any weight this week - just to add to the situation hey! Training for Race for Life mainly to give me a goal, the exercise will hopefully start to replace the antidepressants soon, taking it slow but it feels good to get outside which I would not have said 3 months ago. Could barely get out of bed let alone run around the streets! So thats got to be a positive move for me.

    Hi Rich,

No court is on Thursday so we still have a few days left to prepare. Any thoughts off hand that might be useful things to bring up with the judge? I can't think of anything, plan on just being honest and hoping that they take pity on us. Thought about getting on my hands and knees and begging but OH thought that was going too far! I'm still not convinced its not a good idea!
