Think about it. It doesn't matter that you got them for nowt. They're worth something at the present time. But they may be worth next to nothing in 12 or 18 months time when the crash in the housing market has taken full effect on their share price

Personally speaking, if I had kept the shares to this point I would not choose to sell now. Ok things are looking bad, but sooner or later these shares will recover (to some degree). You never know HBOS may even be a takeover target at some point.
I know you have been screaming 'sell' for some time, but now may not be the best time.
Have you a vested interest in a lower share price or is your advice an altruistic act?

That's how I feel too. And in the meantime we're still getting the share dividends. It's still money for nothing :)

Before the right issue they were planning toissue dividends in shares, not money.
So it seems to me any dividend you get willl just be a bit of the money raised in the rights issue given back to you.
Whether they are actually making any money themselves remains to be seen.

No, not necessarily. Northern Rock didn't, Bradford and Bingley didn't before they were rescued.

.I said people should sell HBOS when they were over well £5 per share. They're now below £3 per share. No vested interest, I don't want to see people lose even more money as they did with N.R + B&B. It gets silly when you see people say the same stuff over and over again like "the shares can't go much lower" or " they've got to go up soon".

  • Ad44downey,

Did you get hurt by your first ever girlfriend, and was she called HBOS, when you were young? or do you work for a rival and are bitter and twisted?

Shares and how they will perform is all about opinions and gambles, your opinion as as factual as mine or any body elses
