True, but then Mr Buffett does have the advantage of a team of researchers to ensure that the business model is sound, and is appropriately positioned in the right market at the right time, with the right management team, but I understand what you are saying.

Indeed and i'm sure he's buying into banks like HSBC, and JP Morgan like there's no tommorow.. i'd be surprised if he was buying HBOS!!

eg BOE funding another bank to buy the shares,or something like that (behind closed doors of course)

They won't need too... if the B&B experience is anything to go by: the way the shares are tanking - the rights issue will probably fail. The underwriting banks will get spooked.. and want out. the hbos board will re-struture the rights issue, say 180p - the shares will fall still further, and an asset stripper will buy them for a song, 90p? and break them up.

The shareholders get shafted, and the staff get shafted. Depositors are protected, as are mortgage and loan holders (who keep up with their payments, those that don't will be very shafted)

and even the FSA changing the rules all of a sudden cannot stop this...because it's the Yanks doing the shorting.HA...HA...HA ...Love it !
Doesn't matter who's doing the shorting, it's where they're doing it, and as far as I know HBOS only trades with any significant volume on the LSE

HBOS is doomed. Any investor in their shares would be well advised to bale out while they still can. This is another Bradford and Bingley.

Well I'd have fancied A&L to fall over HBOS, but look how that turned out :D One has to wonder what sort of shaoe they're in. At least HBOS should have had the ability to be more diversified, course it depends what they diversified into

Thought they were getting funding from Soverign wealth, or was that somebody else, don't really follow UK stuff that closely.
