Setmefree, I am happy to apologise, if you have felt offended, forgive me.

It just posts like the one above seem very strange to me. Maybe there are readers of this thread who have been hurt by the fall in HBOS share price and to see you gloating may stick in their craw somewhat.

For the record, I have no position in hbos

Many thanks agent orange for bringing my earlier post to my attention and for your apology.

Whenever a hardworking person hits hard times they are on their own,no support from the banking industry. they merely get a reply of well you knew the risks at the time.
Now when the banking industry gets into trouble they get full financial support, i admit they have to pay it back and so they should.
HBOS shares have dropped dramatically on two occasions, on these occasions the FSA have stepped in and warned first of rumours,Never proved which has been admitted by the FSA and on the second occasion abuse of short selling..
The FSA has also supported the Banking Industry over their bank charges..i.e. no more claims through the courts until the final result of the test case comes through.
But the Banks are still allowed to apply their charges???
With regards to the shareholders losing money with the falling prices, how can they blame others for this, such as the media coverage etc etc..if i had shares i would have pulled out a long time ago, why take the chance when even the Governor of the bank of england is saying things look gloomy.
agent orange i was critised a while ago on here in the banking industry thread when i said that other Banks will suffer in the future, in fact i was classed as mad :D.

Warren Buffet has always said buy when no one else, and buy thibgs people always need like chewing gum, tyres and Banks.

I pondered buying M & S and Brit Airways when they were well down (3 years ago from memory) and have lived to regret my hesitation.

True, but then Mr Buffett does have the advantage of a team of researchers to ensure that the business model is sound, and is appropriately positioned in the right market at the right time, with the right management team, but I understand what you are saying.

I've been saying for months to sell these turkeys. And right enough they've halved in value in the last few months alone. The advice is still good.

    SELL! SELL! SELL!

The housing market has only started to tank so things will only get worse for HBOS.

eg BOE funding another bank to buy the shares,or something like that (behind closed doors of course)

    ad44downey...agree with your comment...

I posted on 15.1.2008 on another Moneysaving thread...."I would stay well clear of the financial sector and UK property altogether for at least 12 months to 2 years"

    It's nice to see a bank getting shorted....HA ....HA...HA....
They are usually the ones doing the shorting (quite often 'naked shorting)

and even the FSA changing the rules all of a sudden cannot stop this...because it's the Yanks doing the shorting.HA...HA...HA ...Love it !

I know how you feel... way back in march, i was posting that UK based banks, and specifically B&B A&L and HBOS were not the rock solid institutions that many posters said they were, and that the Icelandic banks were nowhere near as shaky...That if the worst came to the worst there would be little that the BoE or the Gov could do to save them after NR... bottom line is that i'd be very surprised if HBOS comes out of all this intact!!
