MIL and Money Troubles...

We're not going to be approaching the hotel on her behalf or anything, if she wants to get her money back from them then she can try it herself... I just want to call them and make sure she can't mess it up for us anymore than she already has... Or take any of the money we've paid ourselves too... I really wouldn't put it past this woman, OH's sister called to see what the fuss was about and she tried to say one of the problems is OH owes her £30 which is an out and out lie!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Sounds like the whole faily are.....lovely.
You're best off without her, I'd be tempted to bar her from the whole thing even if she does turn up - tell her she's been taken off the table plan etc. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
Current Pay Off Target : £1500 :mad:0 -
If it was my choice I would... But it's not mine and OH won't ban her because she's his mother after all... Which is a fair point...
His sister's been really supportive and his Dad has been great so far but they live a distance away...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I spoke to the wedding coordinator at the hotel today. She was fantastic, really supportive. Turns out MIL has called the hotel and spoken to the manager, he's told her she can't have the money back unless we pay them the same amount to cover it... Have spoken briefly to OH (while he was on lunch) we're going to carry on as we are, pay for everything else first and when it gets close to the knuckle, I have some money in my mortgage I can hopefully draw down (minimum £1000) and there's the christmas fund, might have a couple of hundred in by then... OH is also talking about taking back her invite... So that's 3 less places to worry about on the table plan (she was insisting on bringing 2 guests)... and 3 less meals!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Hi Krystaltips,
What a horrible situation. I hope you get it sorted out. :grouphug:
I don't know if this helps but we are planning on paying for quite a bit of our wedding on a HSBC 0% credit card. It is for 12 months which hopefully with lots of saving we will try and pay back before it runs out.
This would mean you could leave the extra money in the mortgage and not lose the benefits??
I hope things go ok. Let me know what happens.

Hi MSW, a 0% cc would b great but I don't think either of us would qualify for one.. and if we did it wouldn't have a high enough credit limit for what need, it would probably be the introductary £200... We plan on overpaying the mortgage once we're married and settled anyway, it's not as big as a lot of peoples because I bought my house in 2001 before property prices really took off and we're hoping to reduce the balance / increase equity and move somewhere nicer as soon as we can... So the loss of £1000 isn't great but hopefully it would only be for a few months..A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... And it will be worth it for the peace of mind that paying yourselves will bring. :grouphug:0

Yeah absolutely, OH doesn't wanna give her any reason to say anything about us to his sisters n brother (there's no one else that will listen to her!)A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I've always found what goes around comes around

You might have to wait a while but boy will it be worth it
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hotel just called, the manager got sick her constantly faxing and telephoning and just refunded her... She asked if they would cancel the wedding on us now, they told her no but if we didn't stump up the cash in August we'd lose the money we've already paid (which isn't strictly true, but she doesn't know that... The hotel are on our side...)
Have managed to cut costs though, have removed her, her 2 guests from the breakfast...
I have this feeling though that this is not the end of the situation... Something tells me she's going to rear her ugly head sometime around August when the balance is due and try to hold it over us... It will be quite satisfying to tell her to kiss my ar5e though
