(The deal for the Clio fell through, by the way..............)

I've seen a Ford Ka- y reg, 25k miles, green, body coloured bumpers, CD, PAS etc, up for £2300.

How does that sound, and is there anything I should be looking for an a Ka?

Thank you.

Check on the Honest John website for any 'glitches' it may have.

I had one from almost new for 2 years - absolutely loved it, and wouldn't have changed it if I hadn't got a daughter at Uni that I had to keep moving stuff for! Oh, and my OH finds a Focus a bit more roomy (he's 6'2" but could squeeze in the Ka).

Have fun with it - I'd quite like another one some day.

The only thing I can think of is the decals used to come away on the windows and the rear window bolts going rusty. Not sure exactly what years that was on but it was for a while and it may well have covered y reg's. But it's only cosmetic. Can't think of anything else.

I drive a KA (green) 52 plate and it's been fantastic. Had it for 4 years and it's never let me down. Only downside is the small boot.

That seems quite a lot of money for a y reg? but the milage seems good!

    Loads of known faults

Knackered top mounts, lower arm bushes, check all of the suspension.

    Knackered steering racks.

Rust - Some even left Ford rusty if you believe what you read.

Heaters - They stick on hot or cold, normally the opposite one you want in the season.

Parking dents - They live in supermarkets, etc, so expect them

Spark plugs rusting into the head

No need to worry though, they are great cars, and all of the above are very cheap (easy to do yourself) to fix.

They also handle very well and are a hoot to drive :D

25k is very little, has it got full service history? If so I'd bite their hands off, it's the kind of car which a lot of the older generation have so some just pop to the shops.

It does have Full Service History.

It has a replacement CD player- are they easy to remove at night once it is parked up for the evening?

Is £2300 too much? I'm expecting to get it down to at least £2100.........

It depends on the make of stereo.

I think it's a fair price for miles and FSH and if it's in good condition, depends if they are in a rush to sell it or not, but I'd hold on for £2200-300

Rust is the main issue and your worst enemy. Everything else can be fixed quite cheaply.

Is it just the Ford Ka that has a reputation for rust or is it all Fords?

Wife and daughter both had them, rust was not a problem. If they are serviced properly they are as good as any other car in the class.
They are an absolute delight to drive, Clarkson called it "the happy pill".
