  • We savd a fortune on our wedding thnks to MSE. My wedding dress cost £65 from China and in total the whole day cost £1500.I got my flowers from Dunelm for £4.99 and jazzed them up with crystal pins. I made all my own table decorations, numbers and holders, invites etc.. It was the best day and everyone thought we had spent a fortune. We even got married at 4.30pm and didn't have a wedding breakfast and that cut the cost dramatically. Thanks MSE, Tiger x

I am delighted!! Thank you MSE....the letter arrived today from Alliance and Leicester refunding the £425 of bank charges I paid over a 3 month period earlier this year. I would never have persued it as fiercely if I hadn't been following the site.

I did my budget in/out spreadsheet and was pretty gutted when I saw the results ("forgot" to face up to major expenses like Christmas, insurance etc etc) but am def turing things around.

Downsize challenge in supermarkets working well, half-price vouchers for the (now infrequent) meal out, reclaiming CC charges, negotiating/bartering where I can,...

Don't know exactly how much I've saved in the last 4 months I've been really paying attention to my purse (which is THE number one thing to get in the right mindset, IMHO) but it is at least £600-800.

    Thank you, thank you Martin!!!

My OH and I save lots of money on transport by cycling to and from work every day.
I make a menu from Sunday to Friday, so I know what to get from the supermarket (and minimize wasting food) so I cook dinner for me and my OH and make enough for lunch to take to work the next day and microwave. We treat ourselves on Fridays and Saturdays, but nothing too extravagant (or expensive!). We live with my parents and spent £200 on rent a month. It's hard sometimes because we are a young couple but we manage. It has actually made us stronger as a couple...Can't wait til get our place next year though!!:T
:jOur flat deposit: my savings so far: £13,942.94 as at 09/08/2010 :T
