Aldi - give them a try

I've shopped at Aldi for years after being skint one week and trying them out. I've never bought anything from there that doesn't taste as good as the brand name equivalent. The nappies are really good, much better than any other retailers own brand ones ( I've had three kids and I've tried them all!!) you can only buy larger sizes though. The washing liquicap thingys do a brilliant job too. I only go to other shops for the special offers now!!0

Going to try Aldi's for the first time today and I was wondering if they sell fruit and veg. I see alot of posts about chocolate and nuts but maybe (hoping!) I missed the ones about fresh stuff.
Need to top up my heathy foods as trying to lose weight as well as save the pennies!Lesson learnt!0 -
Yes, they sell fresh fruit and vegetables, all are excellent. Also, check out their fridges as they have prepacked salads, coleslaw etc. Their fromage frais and yoghurts are also worth a try. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

Looks like one of the best kept secrets is getting out now.......Ggrrrrrrr!!
Here's a link to their home page...http://www.aldi.co.uk/
Their bacon is WAYYYYYYYYYYYY better than the paper thin offerings from Tesco, sainsburys and co..and much, much tastier..especially at half the price.
We've never been disappointed with anything from Aldi's...and the savings are significant.
Only down side....take your own carrier bags...they're 3p each at Aldi!!
mikeif i had known then what i know now0 -
Sorry for giving the secret away Mike.
Suppose I'm shooting myself in the foot really, if it gets really popular I won't be able to go in Christmas Eve to buy all the fruit and veg half price like I did last year !!You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Took your advice and popped in there this afternoon:).
Bought some fruit and nut chocolate and some of those bars like snickers. Was going past bacon and it looked really nice so popped some of that in the tiny trolley. Fruit & veg did look really fresh, so bought some braeburn apples for 79p a bag. What else? Mmmmm.............some fresh orange juice and some peppers. Quite a busy shop, only switch or cashand someone bought a couple of bottles of wine, was with his wife and looked aroung 28/30 but was asked for ID
:) - he was not very happy in fact he was livid! lol

Only thing I didn't like was the fresh meat. Everything else great. You have to try their luxury ice-cream (the Milfina one in the black 1L containers)
Has anyone tried their bargain electricals? Any good?0 -
I agree with everyone Aldi is a fantastic shop.
Many, many bargain to be had.
I know from a reliable source(shop manager) their Norpack spread is Lurpack repackaged and their Belgian lager is Stella and I mean REAL Stella, none of your Whitbread brewed under licence in the UK rubbish.
PS I've always found Lidl slightly depressing.2011 Wins - Dave Gorman Tickets :j Sony Bravia TV :beer:0 -
I dislike the No Credit card policy with these stores. (NO cash back and no payment until next billing).NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
