This is for anyone out there who has never shopped At Aldi. Give them a try, their chocolate digestives are exactly the same as McVities, their Romeo bars are Bounties. I have only found a few things I didn't like, but the majority is excellent (especially their large chicken and leek pies £1.99) Their chocolate is delicious, plus they have brilliant clothes and homeware offers.
Only problem is they only take cash or debit cards, still think of all that credit you are saving !

Their fresh pasta and sauces are first class and great value. Their pistachio nuts are also good value compared to the major supermarkets.
Their ice creams are also very good but getting a bit cold for them now !!!!Matched betting profits since 11/10/06 = £1,5540 -
We don't have an Aldi near us, but we have a Lidl. I often wondered, are they connected?Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j0

I heard that there were 2 brothers and they both started a supermarket each. Don't know how true that is? Which one is best. We now have both in the town?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Lidl's history goes as far back as the 1930's when the company was founded as Lidl & Schwarz Grocery Wholesale in Germany and has since diversified into supermarkets with the trading name "Kaufland" and into discount operations better known as "Lidl". Today, the Schwarz Group of Companies is one of the major international grocery retailers in Europe.
The first Lidl store was opened near Ludwigshafen, Germany in 1973. The 1980's saw the Lidl discount concept grow nationally in Germany and then internationally in the 1990's. In the future Lidl willl continue to expand into new markets offering our customers quality products at the cheapest prices.
Despite the growing amount of Aldi's Supermarkets all over the United States , Aldi's actually originated in Germany and is known as the German Wal-Mart. The history of Aldi's is as intriguing as their deals that they offer. The frugal ways of Aldi's actually came out of its post World War II beginnings in 1948 when customers at its first store in Essen Germany wanted only the lowest priced staples. These stores were started by two brothers, Theo & Karl Albrecht, and they named the store Albrecht Discount. Albrecht Discount is now known as Aldi's (for short).

I also LOVE Aldi.
The chocolate (with nuts) is fantastic and much better than cadbury's.
The cereal is cheap and delicious.
The vacuum packed pasta is superb.
Our favourite at the moment is their frozen salmon in a fancy sauce, their ready to eat pasta and yoghurts with crumble topping.(Oh and their pistacios and cashews)
I have never ever had anything bad from Aldi.Newbie Comper
Wins so far-crunchie bar, Friends DVD set,Clynol shampoo + cond, LUSH Christmas set0 -
Aldi rock, and I'm very lucky to live 5 mins away from one. Do most of my food shopping there and at Iceland, so rarely spend more than £50 a month (just me, no other mouths to feed).
Risked some of their crunchy nut cornflakes the other day - superb : as good as Kellogg's easily (99p for 500g box). Their freeze dried coffee is as good as Kenco but only about £1.80 a jar, and their gold label tea bags are very tasty.
Crisps (6 packs for 49p) are fine, plus come in interesting flavours (their sea salt and black pepper ones in particular are very nice), and their drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are spot on - orange juice cartons 34p, 6 bottles of Pils for £2.49...
Anyone who turns their nose up at Aldi (or Lidl or Netto come to that) are really missing the point : who needs brand names when the unbranded stuff is often exactly the same, but cheaper ?
Ooh, and their three packs of Golden Cup chocolate bars...mmmmm0 -
The belgian lager is Stella and the highland black whiskey is johnny walker black label. I know this from a very, very reliable internal source. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Thought the lager tasted familiar
The odd thing is, from time to time they get named brands in - in actual fact, my store was doing 24 bottles of Stella for a tenner until fairly recently0 -
