I have had an hour long meeting with an advisor at the Halifax today and I can confirm that the maximum monthly amount that can be put in this account is £250 and not £500.

It is not up in the air.The account details are all finalised they just havn't been advertised yet.If you read my post I said that today I had meeting with an advisor at the Halifax.I had a full financial review and discussed the fact that my Regular saver matured on the 31 st May and as I had read about the new rate I enquired about it.
Do you not think that a Halifax Personal Financial Advisor would know the details of new products ?

Based on my experience with one of their Branch 'experts' a year ago .... it is quite possible they do not know.
Equally ..... do you not realise some of the contributors to this thread work within Halifax?

You would like to think so, but unfortunately past experience goes along way with long memories. Financial Advisors and Customer Service people do not always know what they are talking about.

Let's wait and see the blue print.

£500/month at 10% does sound unrealistic (unless it has awful restrictions), so we might as well wait for the small print
  • Just to add a little more info the Manager of the branch sat in the meeting to observe his advisor and he finished up doing a lot of the talking.

I wonder if a Fixed Rate ISA count towards the £5000...if yes then waiting for this new product!!!. 6.1% for 4 yrs on the fixed product (i missed the 6.5%) along with 12% @ £500pm(or even £250p.m) seems too good to be true.

It said above 'linked account' - which implies no ISA possible. The purpose of 'linking' with the current Halifax RS is to receive a transfer of the maturity balance - so it will be restricted to instant access type accounts - and (of these) the Websaver variable rate (4.38%) is the 'best'
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam
