Do you really need the British Gas Plumbing & Heating? (presuming it's insurance?)

Do you actually get proper use out of your gym membership?

    Hi Miia

Just wanted to say hi, well done so far, you seem to be getting organised which for me was the hard bit, lol

I recommend the £10 a day challenge too, i did it in March and April and over those 2 months i managed to get enough together to clear my overdrafts (plus reduce some bills over the future.)

Keep posting and keep your chin up.

Wow! Everyone is so lovely here.

The satellite- I am going to see what i can do about that.

The plumbing insurance - no, I don't think we need it so will check out the T&C's.

Again with the gym - no but again will need to check the T&C's

My small steps today have been to find a 0% until August 09 and transfer the yukky debts to that. It wasn't a huge amount but it will most definitely help.

The organising is helping loads and I think it will take me a while to get it really organised.

I am gearing up to the £10/day challenge but need to put other stuff in place first and just be a bit more organised.

    I will get there

I'm probably going to be reiterating a lot but:-
    (a) get those 'phone bills down - you should be able to ring the automated payment line if you are on D/D with BT and get them down a little each month
    (b) CC tart - I was one until I paid off my debt. Get the card through the post and cut it up straight away. I rang up a while ago to get rid of the last one and the girl kept telling me how useful a card was. I told her it probably was but if she could find the shredded bits on the landfill and then stick them back together she was a better man than I :rotfl:
    (c) I am an Old Styler. Make do and mend and plan, plan, plan those meals. We also have a vast list of recipes for making meals out of nowt so they should be helpful.
    (d) Ciggies - obvious but how about giving up? Could tell OH that you want to be healthier (and thus get brownie points!) :D
    (e) entertainment - staying in is the new going out and check out your local library you'd be amazed at what you can find in there in the way of free events etc - not to mention a huge selection of books all for your reading amusement!
    (f) spending diary - just where did that £20 go???? You could even try the "I'm not going to spend any money today" challenge which I set myself!

Hope this helps! There are lots of people in big debt, little debt and in-between debt but the main thing is you're on here and you've made a start.:T
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

    that doesn't matter does it?

All that matters is the OP has had her lightbulb moment & wants to pay it all back & clear up the debts. :)

    Good Luck Miia!

Yep probably. LNRV has only posted 5 times and obviously is holier than thou!

Who cares how you got into debt, you have acknowledged it and are dealing with it. IGnore the troll.....

Miia - don't worry about LNRV - must be a troll  - no one on this board thinks that - after all we are all in the same boat so it would be pretty wrong to start being rude like that - keep up the dfw work x x:D

I agree ignore the troll, it doesn't matter how you got in debt, what matters now is that your here to try to get out of it.
