Another FTB here
. However, not the right time for me. I'm saving. Saving hard. I've been having a look now and again at properties but holding off just for now (haven't seen anything which ticks all the boxes).
As a mortgage advisor, I haven't seen that many FTB's but I know they're out there waiting in the shadows (cos I'm a potential FTB too).
Good luck to all those buying and selling at the moment (as well as all those in the same boat as me, giving up everything to save).
How long til pay day?
March Grocery Challenge - £69.54 / £3000 -
I've just BEEN a FTB, so there must be others still out there. However, I got a pretty favourable fixed rate mortgage deal which was withdrawn from the market three days after I completed and replaced with one more than 1% higher... if I'd started the process a month later, I'm not sure I would have bothered.0

I'm a FTB, still watching prices, several of the houses we have saved on rightmove have dropped in price since we started looking in March, some up to 15k so the longer we can leave it the better it will be. We are going to start actually looking at houses in june, hopefully make an offer in july/august (we need to move before november)
The best price for us will be 155k or less as we will be saving money compared to our current situation, this is looking more and more likely as the months go by0 -
We're FTBs and just about to agree a price on a 3 bed. It was on for 200 a while back but their buyers pulled out. Now on at 190, we've agreed 184. It's a nice house that we can see ourselves in for a good few years.
Our problem (wrong word maybe) was that we had a mortgage inplace witha fairly decent rate (5.39 fixed for 2 years - is that any good?) and if we don't do it now we'd have to wait a fair while to get a similar deal I think.
Are we doing the right thing?0 -
Not quite a FTB: I sold last year (more luck than judgement, but glad I did), my partner is a proper FTB. We are renting at the moment, saving money, and looking at a few. We have a decent deposit and could comfortably afford a mortgage of 250k if IR went up to 12%. More than that and we would have to tighten our belts a bit, but we would manage.
At the moment this translates into a 3 bed terrace with smallish garden in the areas we are looking at. We are in no hurry to buy, although I am fed up of living in a flat and not having outside space.
I am reluctant to buy at the moment, principally because I feel if we wait we can jump a rung on the ladder - I would love to get something with a bigger garden, more space etc. I am avidly watching property bee and although I am seeing a few price drops, not many in the sort of place I am looking for. I am not overly worried about negative equity but I do not want to pay more than a house is worth and I do want to get as much bang for our buck as possible.
So, no offers from the clobber household for a while. We've gotten greedy and are waiting for the 4/5 bed semis to drop into the range we are prepared to pay.0 -
FTB now starting to look again, but will be making offers tht get us a bad reputation IF we see something we can happily ride out a storm in or 10 years or so. We have, as of today, over £60,000 deposit and fees etc money, going up my minimum £1000 pcm. we are NOT looking for a 'starter home' because like many other ftbs now, we are older, and have aquired more junk than would fit, and we are aware that the market is going to be horrid and we might grow as a family and need more room than a one bed flat offers.0

My Buyers, Buyer is a FTB, I have been advised they had to accept a lower offer then they expected.Competition wins - 09/03 - £500 ELC Vouchers 11/04 - Lush Goodies 21/04 - Gillette Fusion Gift Pack 22/05 - Mirrors DVD 29/05 - Return Flights to London & £500 29/05 - £50 Homebase Gift Vouchers 20/09 - Remote Control Helicopter 28/09 - £225 Bingo Win 05/10 £25 Photobox Vouchers 16/09 £90 Cash 30/11 £29 Cash 03/01 £20 03/04 Fifa Football :T0
