selling essays on E-Bay

I'm doing a Degree at the moment and was browsing e-bay looking for some of the text books I need,
I came across someone selling their essays from their diploma/degree, selling them to people to submit as their own,

what makes it worse is that they are for a degree in Social Work, I find this really disgusting icon8.gif
we rely on Social Workers to care for our societies children and someone is encouraging them to cheat at their exams and pass under false pretences,
so in effect they are allowing possibly unsuitable people to become social workers icon8.gif

is this against any e-bay rules at all?

THIS is the link, but it's not just once they have sold lots of them

as you can see I'm bouncing about this, how would they feel if a social worker failed to save a child and the ensuing enquiry found that they had passed all their exams using work written by someone else!!!!!

Not good, I agree, but I think it's probably allowed. What do you think?

They have a disclaimer on the bottom telling people not to use this as their own, but to gather ideas.

    HA

As if thats going to make a difference.

Having done an OU course, I have emailed my complaint to the OU.

Of course! It will be their IP he's selling, won't it.
    Seller's payment instructions:
Please pay within 5 days, NO PAYPAL, cheques and postal orders only.
...then lists paypal in payment methods accepted. How odd.

  • It is funny you should post this, as just last week I was searching for psychology text books on ebay. Having just finished my degree, I thought I would sell my books on ebay if the going rate seemed ok. The first thing that popped up was people selling their psychology essays. I even found people selling their dissertations! I was absolutely disgusted & bubbling with anger that people would do this. The essays are bad enough, but to sell your dissertation too...it's about 9 months of work including methods & results sections.
I just don't know how people can do this & I really think it needs to be stopped as it's not fair to those who actually put the hard work & hours & hours in to it.
    Why does ebay allow this?
I feel really angry just thinking about it now... :(
  • I looked at this thread and link when Glad posted it and being a simpleton when it comes to Ebay I don't understand why so many of the buyers/sellers
in the feedback are private

    Any reason for this?

And incidentally I have to agree with the posters that this practice of buying and selling course work seems awful. Interesting link given on what is considered okay or not by Ebay.

Oh, the item numbers you mean? Normally things that might cause embarrasment. In this case, it looks like the items were pregnancy related if you look back through the seller's history.
  • This should be posted on eBays community bulletin boards as there are lurkers there who could help a little more.

PayPal dont allow payments for e-books, goods have to be physical.

I wonder what degree I could now buy myself?
I eBay, you eBay, we eBay.... just do it!!!!!
  • It makes me angry to see these essays on here. But who's to say you are actually buying an essay that got a decent mark? It wouldn't surprise me it's the students who bummed out who are selling their essays on to try and pay back some of their debts!

I took a lot of pride in my uni work, it may not have been the best but it got me a decent grade, but it was mine and I wouldn't want anyone else passing it off as theirs. More fool the ones who buy this stuff, they really will be shafted if they try and submit a strangers essay, get a crap mark and can't redo it.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

What makes you say that? Or do you mean that ebooks are not covered by paypal buyer protection?
