Actually we get quite a lot of offshore moneysaving queries on the boards, scattered around various forums. If you look at the posts of "Cook County" (an international tax specialist) you'll get an idea.

If any new forum were opened, it could sit quite comfortably next door to this one, in the "Moneysaving for who and where you are" forum IMHO.
We already have Moneysaving for
disabled people,
students
members of the armed forces,
oldies
Why not offshore investors (whether or not expats)?
As we have discovered with the recent Iceland problem, plenty of UK residents invest offshore!Trying to keep it simple...0 -
If you have spanish residency you are entitled to all the benefits same as a spanish national. Although many do, you are no longer entitled to claim UK benefits like free dentist and doctor.
Big brother works slow, but they will get you eventually. A freind of mine had been getting free prescriptions from UK, but they were caught out. I am sure you are claiming benefit to which you may not be entitled and it is none of my business, but please be advised DWP have a new "snitch on your neighbour" line here in spain. see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/BenefitFraud/DG_10014876Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

If there were a separate section for "Overseas Living & Investment" or some such, then different threads could be created without anyone feeling put out.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

Are you referring to me? I don't get any benefits from the UK. Our dentist is private, not nhs.
My husband does claim IB, but that is all above board, you are allowed to export it to EU countries. They write to him here and any form that the Doctor has to fill in is bi-lingual.
We, don't have UK Healthcare, we are de-registered and receive our Healthcare in Spain.
We are registered to vote in the UK as NON-RESIDENT voters (not resident in the UK) and can vote in Parliamentary and European elections, using a proxy. Again this is all above board.
Don't quite know what you mean?(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Yes, if missile was referring to you, s-d-w, then he must have got the wrong end of the stick.
But I don't see where his quote came from:What is benefit fraud?
........
+ not reporting they are going abroad, living abroad, or have changed address
Edit: Oh yes, I do ... From the "snitch" site. Well, I remain confused.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
I was merely making a comment. It was not aimed at you or indeed anyone in particular.
I did know from previous posts that your DH legitimately claims IB and I intended to sayI am sure you are NOT claiming benefit to which you may not be entitled
However, I know of several who are, do you?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

No, I don't actually
Oh yes, I do know of one couple but don't know their full names or address so can't 'snitch' on them. I'm sure 'Bert and Alice of somewhere in Benidorm' won't suffice.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
