Hello, Just found this thread, only on page two up to now and can't wait to read more.
But for now, it's time to go to bed, as it's work tomorrow.

I have an apartment in Southern Spain and love it when we are on holiday, and when it's raining and horrid in the UK, I dream of living there but can't afford it at the moment.
Then other days, I think it might be a mistake to move over there for good and should just go for holidays.

Sometimes dreaming is better than reality isn't it?

Bye for now, will read more tomorrow.

    xx

    Hi Sandy,
I do envy you really, but not sure if I'm brave enough to go the whole hogg.
To be honest we couldn't go for a long while yet for financial reasons, but hubbie says if he ever gets made redundant, then he's off like a shot.

    Hi, binnie.

A welcome from me, too, to the overseas thread. It's all very friendly here, as you'll have seen.

Feel free to contribute as you wish. I'm glad to say that no-one here will jump down your throat and tell you that your question is stupid or your opinion invalid.

Hey, hello !- no there are not many Belinda's around. I will not allow my name to be shortened to anything! (Although when I was 17 I was engaged to a guy who called me Bel, I hated it).

There were a couple of Belindas at the school my husband used to teach at, they were both Afro-Carribean and I did wonder if the name was more common amongst black people.

Still, who wants a common name hey??

    Welcome again!

And we're in SW France, about half an hour's drive SE of Agen.

I can see posters here getting together one year for a "do"!
    Just found this thread...
Hi - count me in for any South France "do"...

I have my 2nd home in the French Riviera - central Nice...walking distance beach and the Nice Ville railway station. We go over 8-10 times a year at the mo. Its my favourite time of year now...Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix this month.

Hope to retire there eventually, currently family and friends borrow it for free.
Old people are treated well there.
What a different lifestyle it is!

    A la prochaine! CB2x

Greetings Clipboard, it's good to have some new peoplw on the thread.

Binnie, you will find that the Spanish have no problem with the pronunciation of your name like they do with some foreign ones. It is phonetic, the emphasis is in the right place and it has an 'a' on the end like female names should have.

They call me Bel-EEN-da with no problem whatsoever!

They sometimes call my husband Rubio (Blonde) instead of his name - many people have nicknames here- although I personally would say his hair was auburn!

Just remembered, I have something funny to say about names here.

In our tiny village there are many men called Juan (pronounced Hwan). To differentiate between all the different Juans, they sometimes use the first syllable of their second name added on. So for example Juan Miguel would be Juanmi, Juan Manuel would be Juanma, Juan Jose would be Juanjo.....

I was delighted to find out our Doctor's name was Juan David, giving him the abbreviation Juanda.

    Yes, welcome, CB2!

Nice, eh? Very exclusive!! 'Fraid we don't run to that, but live in the middle of fantastic green rolling countryside, five miles from the nearest shop, but in a small village with a phone box, a letter box and a church.

Quiet in the extreme, it is pure joy for me to live here, and I have gradually been integrating myself into local society, as I'm both shy and sociable, IYSWIM.

Paul (which I think anyone can pronounce, lol!)
