Better check it's still valid, then, as site gives:

  • That link didn't work but I typed it in and they have given me a really good quote, thanks!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Haven't seen it posted anywhere, so thought I'd just mention that most countries have Lidl websites where you can sign up to their email with each week's specials.

    France is ... http://www.lidl.fr/fr/home.nsf/pages/i.home

    Spain is ... http://www.lidl.es/es/home.nsf/pages/i.home

With a bit of imagination, I'm sure other countries could be found with similar https!
  • Thankyou Les - very useful!

Yes, welcome, LesD. Are you resident abroad yourself?

Re the Flexicover site, doh!!! Why didn't I think of typing it in directly? Old age and tiredness, I guess. But, sandy2, the site did give me a very good price for us two (I mean Mrs DS and me!).

Thanks to s-d-w for the prompt to do it properly! Not sure when we'll start to use it, but it's nice to know it's there.

Actually, since we have cover under the French state system, plus the usual complémentaire, I have been wondering whether there's any point having additional insurance. I really ought to have found out by now, but it's another of those jobs you stupidly keep putting off.

  • We also have the cover in Spain, plus the European Health card and wondered whether it was worth having extra travel insurance.

Burt as a mate of mine pointed out - what happens if we have an accident whilst driving through France on our way to the UK and was unable to travel in a car? I wouldn't want to stay recuperating in France, I would rather go home to my house in the UK or Spain and the EHIC doesn't cover that, wheras travel insurance does.

Hence why we are having some!

    Good point!!

For the sake of £60 a year for the two of us, it's probably a wise investment - or at least, one that provides peace of mind.

That said, I haven't yet studied the policy.

    Hi all.

    Not resident but 'frequent flyer'!

We own a small corner of Murcia and we're off to check it over again next week.

I did try to start a psuedo-MSE newsgroup for moneysavers down there but there weren't enough locals on line and posting to keep it going!

  • Well let's hope you are a 'frequent poster' as well as a frequent glyer.

We are in Granada Province on the southern side of the Sierra Nevada.
