Well we are getting closer to our dream...on Wed I fly out to Fuerte to kit the place out ready for holiday lettings (have bought lots of linen etc here as more choice and better prices).

I have got my place advertised and I have been recommended a cleaner who I have spoken with...

all systems go hopefully...here's to being able to live in the UK and Fuerte at the same time :)

Well done, sjc, and good luck for the lettings.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Just a quick line - we are fine, the pool getting some hammer, not spending much time on the pc.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Quick line from me too. We followed up the ad re solar air conditioning and getting it installed later this week - can't wait as its uncomfortably hot at the moment! Apparently it will also give us heating in the winter (when the sun shines) so putting the woodburner on hold for a while.

hi all , just jumping in on this thread , me wifey 2 kids aged 10 and 4 , moved to near paris 3 1/2 , months ago
really like this country , apart from the language (cant speak it) , and the prices of stuff seems expensive , apart from the wine of course , i had a lovley bottle last night , it cost 90 cents in the local supermarket
there are lizards in the garden , it was a bank holiday yesterday (bastille day) but a washout , i was under the impression it was meant to be like guy fawkes night in england , but with a parade
we missed the parade due to missing a train , got to champs elesse and it had all finished , so checked out some of the sales instead , must admit the summer sales are good , i.e 70 % off , and it seems all the shops have them for the month of july
we went home from the centre of paris after finding some thai curry paste in a deli , (hard to get hold of here lol) and had a curry at home . when darkness fell (around 11 pm ) we went out in the car to find the fireworks , but no joy , so dont know if they were cancelled due to the earlier rain or what .
i could hear bangs of fireworks when returning home but they were miles away , possibly paris itself
i was under the impression the whole country would be having big celebrations and fireworks , strange

:rotfl: no bbd it wasn't you, this thread goes quiet and then gets busy and I was thinking earlier I must say bienvenue to you at some point if no-one else did.

Although I lurk here under false pretences because I do not live abroad, but I know a few who do ...
