Aw Droopsnout. That's awful to upset a woman of that age. I hope she gets it sorted out soon. Sorry I'm no help as regards how the council get their info.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

Yes, thank you to both of you for your comments.
Aren't there some nasty people about?! I've replied to most on the other thread, s-d-w, though I'm sure it was a very long waste of time!! Never mind.
Mum has now been reassured, as her sister rang and played hell, and apparently was somewhat appeased. The council sent out 9000 of those letters. That's a lot of people it risks alienating! Some will be fraudsters, of course. But for me, that doesn't excuse the Big Brother nature of the letter.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
Well, I have had fun over there! Got a big grin on my face.
It took HUGE efforts not tell Mr Wolfe to huff and puff elsewhere! lol. See? I had to write it here to get it out of my system. Well, you lot know me, and might let me get away with it.
RayWolfe, if you've followed me over here, I apologise for that. The same pathetic joke must have been cracked a thousand times.
I have a busy few days ahead, and am going away for ten days or so from Tuesday, when I take a group of friends on a little tour of SW France. I'm driver, interpreter and guide. Mrs DS is staying at home, though, poor thing.
I may not get chance to come back here, so have a good weekend, all.
Donny-gal, hope your trip home was uneventful and that all is OK there on your return.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
My last day at school today. End of an era as I started teaching in 1972. Don't know whether I will be relieved or sad - probably both! Am very positive and excited about the future. Am going to Cyprus on 29th for 5 weeks. Will be sorry to leave my new car at home - am really going to spend the kids' in heritance in a big way - but with their blessing!sloan SKI-ers Club #10 :j0

Arrived home at tea time yesterday, the washer has been on constantly since.
Think I may allocate some of our SKI-ing funds for our old cleaner to tackle the ironing!! Life's too short to spend it ironing a mountain.;)
Had a great time with two other similar minded/aged couples, one who have finished work and another who managed to sort the timeout, but has to carry on for a year or two yet.:T:beer::j:T
Managed to hit some good and good enough weather, only recall having to shelter in the awning for 1 night while in France, until the very last night at Calais where we had a horendous thunder and lightening storm overnight (last Thursday).
Have a Great Nephews birthday today, and a Great Neices on Thursday, and then off out for the weekend inthe 'van to York on Friday, hope the weather improves as not a nice forecast for today.
Sloan - enjoy yourself, you will wonder how you found the time to go to work within a week or two, bet you will come on here soon and say you are struggling to find the time for all the jobs you said you would do when you stopped working.:o
7DW - hope you are still enjoying the shops, word from Spain says the temperatures are too hot, even the Spanish are complaining out it, so while would like an improvement on what we had not bothered about missing that. DS & GF go out on Friday for 10 days, wonder what we will go back too, when we find the time to return.:rolleyes:
Looking forward to meeting our new Norwegian neighbours when we go out there. We find we mix better with the other nationalitiies, than some of the UK ex-pats.
Better go and get some washing on the line before the rain arrives here around lunchtime.
Take care -DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

She's probably melted DG - it was 36 in the shade last week , also some pretty bad fires in the area but not near 7DW.
BMIBaby have cancelled our Oct flights from E Mids , they seem to be stopping in mid-Sept. They have flights for next summer, but seeing as how our July flights were changed from 8pm to 10am and our Oct flights also changed then cancelled I think I'll be giving them a wide berth in future. You can slag off Ryanair all you like but I've never had any problems with them, the only issue is getting back to Stansted at 11pm, going through the hell of passport control and then getting a bus to the car park which I'm convinced is the other side of the Dartford Crossing .
Oh you lucky, lucky, retired people, enjoy it Sloan!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
