I must be mean, my son is nearly 14 and he has to go to bed between 9 and 9.30 depending how annoying he's being. He doesn't generally go to sleep till 10 - 10.30, but like others, I want some time with no kid around as I go to bed usually at 10.0

My 10, 11, 13 & 14 yr old are in for tea at 6pm and then sometimes allowed out after tea but only on the street. I don't see why they should wander the streets, they just get into trouble..
Bed time is 8pm for all of them. I don't see why I should lose my evenings and it does them no harm at all...0 -
Thank you all for your responses.
I no longer feel like the wicked witch.
I have DD's friends staying over here at the weekends and will allow them to stay up a little later to watch a film. Though I dont let her stay at her friends houses as on the times I have, one parent went out leaving her and her daughter babysitting. On another occassion the parents let them watch film that were totally unsuitable for 12 year olds.
I also make her come home before it gets dark in the winter, but do let her have friends here and will then walk them home just before 8PM.
DS is 9 and he comed in for 7.30 and bed at 8PM. Bedtime goes up half and hour with birthdays.
vixarooni I'm normally in bed by 10pm, I really do need as much sleep as possible otherwise I'm a right grouch in the morning.GC: £400/ £00 -
Hey, we're all wicked witches--perk of being a mum, never again in life will I get away with being so mean: 'you don't love me/understand/want me to be happy', or controlling: 'you never let me do anything/all my friends are allowed to go to orgys and smoke pot, you're horrible to me'.:D
So don't spoil my fun, pleese tiptoes;) :TAnytime;)0 -
I'm 21 and rarely go to bed after 10.30pm, the other night i was in bed for 9.15pm
. I never had a set time to go to bed i just used to go when i was tired which could have been anywhere from 8.30pm-10ish. I'm still exactly the same now.
My brother is the total opposite and will sit up all night till the early hours and then sleep all morning on weekends. I'm an early bird and get up around 5.30am every day

You're all mean parents. :rotfl:
I'm never moaning again about my parents being to mean. Saying that, it's been a few years since i've had a bedtime/get home by x. The joys of being 17.

**********round of applause**********
gee i wish all you responsible parents lived round here am sick off seeing little toe rags causing trouble lurking about - they look to be anywhere from 6yrs old up i mean what do their parents actually think their kids are doing and do they care.
its so nice to see other people do exist that care what their kids are up to !0 -
Yeh go with what you think is right..
I do remember hating my parents for making me come in wayyy before all the other kids on my street, I was in bed and still listening to my friends playing out in the street, and remember being sooo scared hearing the phone ring when I was in bed, hoping it wasnt one of my friends to hear the dreaded 'No sorry, shes in bed..' and feeling so emabrassed about it at school the next day!
