    Weird.

I sent a cheque on the 14th, which has cleared.

Also sent a DD and a BACS (from the same account) on the 22nd. One of them hasn't cleared. How long is it meant to take?

No. it seems to take a while to clear pull transactions to the account though (I think, I did a few £1 test payments at the start, so it wasn't clear which £1 was not cleared either!).

I've managed to do an external BACS payments, and apparently they accept Faster Payments.

Yes they do accept FP's but they are not instant. Typically later the same day or next working day.

The question is, has anyone successfully paid in from an external account?

Not personally ... I'm relying on the DD, as my source account doesn't support Faster Payments. But there was an earlier thread where several (experienced) contributors reported successfully using a direct BACS payment to the data quoted above. And that was for the 6.5% Esaver.

Also I'm pretty sure that is in some of the blurb I had from BM ... but just got back from holiday and still catching up the paperwork.

Is the available balance for the BM e-Saver always £1 less than the cleared balance? If so, I'm assuming that's because £1 is the minimum balance?

Confirm the earlier 'no'. I've only managed a £10 cheque thus far ... and that fully shows as available.

First DD tonight .... after waiting 5 days for that to take effect as well. This account isn't meant for anyone in a rush!

See posts #5 and #16 (and possibly others) on here for confirmation of the BACS capability :-

Thank you for confirming. You seem to know more about the account than their call centre.

Maybe I will receive my login details this week, after 6 weeks (!).

That is a long time .. thought mine was bad, but I did prolong it by thoughtlessly being on holiday as all the activation stuff arrived.

To save you my grief? When you access their site to 'Activate' your account with the username / token .... I found a slight problem. In that the 'Activate' button is hidden! (at least it is on my PC). I eventually found the page the button leads to via their sitemap .. but it was unnecessary hard work.

If your screen mimics mine .... the Login button is in red at extreme top right on the page BM point you at. The activate button is immediately (same level) to the left of that .. but 90% obscured by a black Security tab. As I found later - you can just coerce the mouse pointer into sufficient of the remaining 10% to click it? And it's that way on all the screens I looked at. I did Email them ... but they haven't come back .. and last time I looked it was still a problem.

If you don't mind, can I ask what web browser you use, and if you have scaled the text size greater than normal? I can't reproduce on Firefox 2 or 3 without some silly changing of the text size.

    Dagobert,
I've just gone to the 'make a deposit page and it looks like this:
Please specify the type of deposit you would like to make from your Linked Account: Single 'one-off' deposit Regular monthly or weekly deposit

Alternatively, to arrange a deposit by Standing Order with your bank or building society (your bank/building society may charge you for this service) you will need to supply them with the following details:
    Bank Name:
Birmingham Midshires Sort Code: 20-97-78 Account Number: 00968773 Your Reference Number: bvnvncvbcvbcv
(This is your Internet Account Number)

    So you should be fine.
( formatting got a bit lost with the paste)
