Please don't misunderstand, obviously I asked if I could do this. Not even an old bag :-) such as I would send uninvited guests to someone elses function.

    Have a good hol.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

yes gravitytolls it was the best day ever and i thought that was most special day ever until i gave birth to my daughters and what can i say!!! nothing ever matches up to that! it felt even greater than the wedding!! so hopefully i'll be doubling up flowers at churches and receptions twice for my daughters!!!! everyone has different priorities i would have loved a honeymoon abroad but ended up with a couple of days out in york and lakedistrict!! i felt i wanted to spend my budget on having everyone who mattered there on the day and invested in the day and into our rings which we can keep forever! honeymoons come and go but my ring is beautiful all the time and so are my memories of a perfect day!! i didnt think i wanted a video though but it was so good i now wish i'd done that but we have two videos off relatives from the reception so i can annoy my husband with the speech!

Soooo excited about the holiday now...! Although I know it will not be as wonderful as my wedding day...a 1 year old on 2 x 27 hour flights is going to see to that!!!!

  • Wow! My Prince Charming popped the question on New Years Eve…. I met Prince Charming on ParentsAlready.com (before it was recommended on this site as the cheapest online dating site… - I can certainly vouch for it working!) Prince Charming is widowed (his wife died of breast cancer 3 years ago) and has 3 young children, one of whom is autistic, and I have one daughter from a previous marriage. So the wedding doesn’t just need to be cheap and lots of fun but involve the children as much as possible too! The kids are aged between 4 and 9, and are ecstatic at the thought of us getting married. Have thought already would be fun for them to design the invitations themselves, with them inviting people to Mum and Dad’s wedding. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get the kids involved and also possible venues in Sussex or Kent that would be suitable for the big day…. (obviously will also be some older relative there….)

As for the honeymoon, I think the kids want to come too! Any tips on how Cinderella and Prince Charming can get a bit of time to themselves too? We love the kids to bits, but it would be nice to at least get the wedding night to ourselves…

P.S. also getting my house extended to fit everyone in – any ideas for cheap ways of furnishing etc and getting it all done quickly and easily (luckily know a good builder…)

Thanks very much in advance for all your suggestions! Happy New Year!
  • with regards to the holiday, why not choose an airtours etc. which have kids clubs for all different ages, the kids can go in as many days as you both wish!

and the decorating- why not get teh kids invloved, even little ones can help you paint or choose furniture or whatever?

On the wedding day you could give the kids cheap disposal cameras and let them take photos, you may get shots of things that you might miss with everything going on and it’ll give them a sense of responsibility on the day.
I think klick photos still run an offer where if you buy one of their one use cameras they give you free processing.

As for the wedding night could you get a female friend (the chief bridesmaid  ) to stay at your house over night? The kids will problay be so tried after the whole day they might not even notice that your not there until the morning. If the kids know them then it’s not going to be too distressing for them to be without mum and dad for one night.

As for cheap ways of furnishing you could try the freebie section on gumtree.com. Although most of it is tat I’ve found some good stuff (black leather 2 seat sofa – was £150 in Ikea, now nothing just five miles up the road :rotfl: )

I also just wanna say that’s a great idea for the invitations, just hope you don’t end up with bratzs ;)

we just got married and there as many kids as there were adults there

we had a latish church service then went back to the house, that way the kids could play with all the toys or watch dvds etc,

for food we just did a buffet and made sure there were lots of child friendly items on the table plus a basket of sweets etc, its also a lot cheaper that way

i only have the one who is 9 and he gave me away which he really enjoyed and made him feel VERY involved.

as for decorating cant u just paint the walls and try a freecycle site for furnishings... lots of holiday places have kids clubs which would give u some free time

hope u have a good a day as we did

If you are happy to holiday in the UK try this website. I have heard great ratings for all their hotels. Check out tripadvisor to read up about them all.

On the day why not set up a childrens room where they can have loads of activities.

In the church the older ones could be mini ushers or the obvious attendants to the bride!

You could get them to make the favours. Design the name places. Put out the wedding table confetti. I also made up wedding favour boxes for the kids and made wordsearches for the older ones, and bought the odd cracker toy for them to play with at the table. I also put some colouring paper and crayons in to keep them quiet and it worked!

Try logging on to confetti.co.uk there are loads of people there to help you out, I used it when I got married several years ago and they are great for recommending suppliers and venues. Plus dealing out the odd bit of advice along the way.

    Congratulations!

My little boy gave me away and though he was very normal (read uncontrolable!) 3 and a half year old at the time, he transformed into an absolute angel overnight. He thought it was his wedding too and still talks about 'when we got married'.

We had a marquee in the garden of the village pub and the landlord had his daughters and grandaughter offering canapees and handing out the champagne! The grandaughter, I think, felt very proud as she got lots of attention!
