I've done that with an almond mix too, rather like bakewells but I think they're called oysters :)

I'll be trying some orange curd tarts later :D

<sigh> I'm doing far too much baking these days! I'm trying to shrink my waistline...

..in fact I'm succeeding... at about an inch a year :)

Yeah...I ended up using the juice of 2 oranges but still I didn't like it. It ended up down the sink. :D Not very OS. Maybe if my oranges were a bit tartier it might have turned out ok. But I'm glad that you liked it Squeaks.

What a shame. Maybe it's just my tatstebuds then - but I really do like it. Enough so that not only will I polish off this jar but will cheerfully make more at a later date.

I'm sitting here with a stinking cold and you're forcing me to go out and buy lemons icon11.gif

I could eat this warm with a spoon but one recipe it's lovely in is lemon curd tarts,
line cake tin with pastry cases, pop in tsp of curd, top with sponge mix and bake yum yum

I suddenly have a desperate need to start making pastry and lemon curd. Yum

Yes - Nigella has a fantastic recipe for Lime Curd in her Domestic Goddess book and it is totally GORGEOUS :)

My question is, I'm feeling a bit autumny and have started preserving - (got a big batch of pineapple chutney put away already, making tomato and caramelised onion tonight) but, can I make a big batch of the orange curd and store over the winter if I jar it all up? Or have you got to use it all up quick?

I would say so. Orange curd is basically the same ingredients as Lemon. With butter & eggs in them I would always keep in the fridge. I'm not sure how long they do last in there as mine are all eaten in about 2 weeks. But from here to Xmas is still a while away. I would stick to jams, chutneys etc if you wanted to store in your pantry for a while. Although it's pretty cold over there. :confused:Someone else with the answers should come along soon.:o
