Hmmm, I've almost caught up with the backlog and I feel I'm missing a trick with 'whoopsies'. What are they and do Morrison's have them?

whoopsies are reduced items and so will be in most supermarkets the trick is knowing when to find them

i shop in asda so there is things daily, though after around 6pm most go to around the 10p mark so its right place right time then as to what you can get, i dont go there just for them, if there is anything when im shopping i get it otherwise id end up spending loads (on non woopsies may i add)

I am about to make a chilli and had bought a packet mix to add to the other ingredients, I wanted to eat half and freeze half but the packet say's "do not re-heat" do you think it will be okay? If not how do I make chilli that I can freeze? I have mince beef, tinned toms, onion a tin of mixed beans and dried red lentils. I have the usual herbs and chillies do I need gravy granules?

Victory:T :T WOW!! A trip on the Orient Express, thats amazing.

Well was to be a NSD here but had to go get DD some bits and pieces for lunch for school trip tomorrow. So £2.55 spent. Though I gave her hermmoney for yje week this morning. Though she told me she has put it all on her card in school.

Sometimes I feel I'm talking to the wall :wall: as upped her money by £5 a week telling her that this is not just for dinne but also for anthing else she wants during the week and she has put it all on her dinner card in school:doh:. Oh well if I dont give her anymore money it might teach her to listern when I talk:rotfl:

Sounds like you've got all the ingredients. I grate a carrot and celery to soften with onions (adds bulk, nutrients and flaour) but apart from that you should be good with what you've got. Gravy granules shouldn't be needed as the spices will likely overpower any flavour it adds so it'll inly really add colour. A teaspoon of sugar will help the tomato flavour come out too.

lday this was posted by angelnikki earlier in the thread hope it helps

Chilli makes 3 meals for 3

500g mince(I use beef steak mince which I buy on 2 for £4)
    2 grated carrots
    2 handfuls of oats
    2 tins chopped tomatoes
tin of baked beans (my mum always used to add these)
    tin of kidney beans (drained)
    tomato puree
    squirt of ketchup
    Chilli powder

Sometimes I add mushrooms or peppers too if I have them.

You could also add a couple of handfuls of red split lentils to spag bol/chilli to s-t-r-e-e-t-c-h it further. I never do because they take 30-40 mins to cook and I like to have dinner done in 20mins as I cant stand for too long.

I am someone who never, ever buys take away meals but I was feeling so s**t yesterday that I bought a curry for the family. It cost £41.75, so that is about a quarter of my monthly budget. DD has offered to cook the evening meal for me today, and we had yesterdays' leftovers for lunch.
I have resolved to go back to my NSDs and try to keep within the budget

DS3 is 18 at the weekend and I have a seperate budget for that. Thanks should go to lil_me for suggesting that about a year ago. June is our difficult month as we also have DH b'day.
Its a blip so don't feel too bad about it! Did you enjoy the curry ? I love curries, when I was due with DS I just loved eating them with peshwari naan and coconut rice....hmmmm anyone got a coconut rice recipe ?
