Could anyone tell me what washing soda is? Is there a link to one someone else uses? Is it right i would use 2 tbs of soap powder and 1 tbs of washin soda? Is washing soda same as soda crystals? What are soda crystals? How much are they?
Sorry for all the questions!
Yes, soda crystals are the same as washing soda, and as MandyMoo has just explained it to me, the quantities you have put are right.
As to what they are I'm not sure, but they certainly soften the water and helps get stuff clean and I think they're 44p in Tesco for 1kg

SAVVYMUMMY wrote: »Hi Kitty, think I will do weekly shop next month from now on, as you can see from my siggy, the amount i`ve already spent:eek:. This does include alot of my cleaning stuff and store cupboard basics, but not too impressed with my spend. I`ve nearly always done this weekly, so thought i`d experiment with monthly, but not any more.
Hi savvymummy
Yes I thought monthly might be easier but won't make that mistake again. Did a huge shop then still spent my normal weekly amount as well
Just popping to the shops is a hard habit to break (mmmm sounds like a title for a song) but I'm trying to make myself stay away. Done well so far today, but as I'm still in my pjs I'd look a bit daft in the supermarket anyway :rotfl: Never know though I might get to the whoopsies before anyone else as they'll all avoid the mad woman in blue flowery pyjamas :rotfl:

Morning all
Well I have banned myself from going to the shops for at least the next few days.
Have managed to reason that the fresh apricots will be on offer until the end of the weekand that i can't possible squidge 1 more thing in the fridges
.... So i will chomp my way through all the fruit i allready have first -won't take long
...just eating the whole water melon and 2 huge pineapples will free up loads of space :T ... i will even cope with having NO grapefruits
-pineapple n grapefruit juice is my fave  ..
I have allready had my small bowl of meusli (THEEEE nicest muesli ever) so when i have done this i will go and make a juice... strawberry, golden kiwi (only 19c each:T ) pineapple and melon mmmmmm
I know that i have to go back to LIDL on the 5th as thats when they are getting proper mature english cheddar in -400g for €2.99 -about half what we normally have to pay in the NAFFI  ..so can see 10 blocks of that coming home with me and we are going to need more fizzy water... i thought 48x1.5 litres might do ...ohh no it won't so another 48 bottles will be coming too -i have always known i drink loads -but im clearing at least 3 bottles a day  and it isn't full summer yet :rotfl: oh and im planning on picking up several more bags of that mueslii think at €2 for 750g its quite good and i only have 30g at a time
I have taken the carton of double cream(whoopsed longley farm jersey extra rich at that mmm) out of the freezer to make the quiche tomorrow.. I have always used milk and eggs never cream and eggsbut i can only imagine it will be much yummier
Todays dinner is salad -still loads of leaves ready outsidewith steamed potatoes and feta and i will do extra potatoes to make potato salad tomorrow..
Have been out early this morning sorting a bit more of the potio out and checking everything is ok...opened the tent thingy and the 4 melon plants are turning into triffids :j ...oooh how excited will i be if i get any melons :rotfl:
sunnyday
the fish sauce is just in a bottle in the oriental section -near soy, oyster etc.. Be warned -when you open it , it doesn't smell very nice but it turns up in a lot of oriental cooking and gives you the salty taste
Moniker
thankyou for the lovely comment yesterday.... it only took me to the age of 35 to come to this conclusion
..mind i joined my 1st weight loss class at 14  . When i thought back -until i started school i was a tiny little elfin thing -and my mum only ever cooked everything from scratch, but we ate proper big fill you up meals, HM bread, puds the works... and i ate decent portions Because i was at home with my dad and he had a good appetite. Im sure that part of it was when i hit school, started school dinners.. tinned ravioli etc bleughhhhh think i got the taste for more processed stuff and off i went

Hi mumzyof2, I`ve just brought from MrT the 3.6kg of non bio powder and the 1kg of soda crystles and mixed together. Hoping this will last me approx 3 month, but will see. Have made a note on the tub that I put this in when I started.
Hoping for a NSD today, really need to considering the amount i`ve already spent, heres hoping.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41

I thought it might be more cost effective for me, as I know alot of people on here do one big shop a month then weekly shop just for fresh.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41
