since I took up the challenge this month I have achieved zero - can't believe how expensive everything is getting and despite doing a massive online shop with my free MrTdelivery voucher have still 'popped out' for extras twice and it's only Thursday - can't bear to confess to this week's spend - ok I was about £40 over budget but did get enough meat and fish for the freezer to last next week as well - does that redeem me? - but what is good is that reading everyone elses posts boosts me up for another crack at it. I haven't been here for a week so got lots of posts to read up. Well done everyone.

Don't be so hard on yourself... :naughty: You haven't achieved zero, you have achieved something as you are now looking at what you are spending which is HUGH! - imagine what you would have spent if you wern't...

It's a learning curve that we all have to go through - We can't all be perfect and we all have our slip-ups, but the overall goal is to save and I think most of us acomplish that - even if it's not always as much as we want to! :j

    Hi all,

Hope everyones doing well as we move into the second half of the month. :D

Mrs Moneyspinner do not fret - this is my first month too and this month I have been able to start making changes and actually properly take note of how much we really do spend. Next month I hope to implement more of the fab ideas on this thread and hopefully do better.

I tried searching the thread but can't see it anywhere so Mrs M could you please post your recipe for hm coleslaw?

Away to catch up on the posts in the thread and to update my sig. Spent £6 in mrA yesterday - but Haagen daz was down to £2 so it would have been rude not to...;)

    Hi Cookinmummy

No problem.. i just shred white cabbage, finely slice onion and grate carrot into a large bowl.... then i use a good dollop of mayo and greek yogurt, a squeeze of lemon juice if i have it and seasoning mix it up and shove it in the fridge..it keeps for quite a few days.. but you may need to add a litle more dressing ... but you can use a combination of - mayo, salad cream, yogurt, or what ever you have in...
Its also nice made with red cabbage/red onion and carrot

£10:25 in the Farm Shop for F&V, plus £7:99 in MrT for today's pud.

But I went to the self serve c/o & just kept offering up my ood moc for a daily newspaper & the till took 80p worth, so it was £7:19 to pay:T

No1 offspring has chosen roast lamb with black forest gateau for their b'day dinner tonight. The lamb was bought in a deal in a butchers back before crimbo & has been in the freezer; spuds came from a local farm, as did the other veg & one of MrT's frozen desserts complets the menu:p I was contemplating making the BFGat mesen, but you can bet that cuz I wanted it to look good, the sponge would've come out like a paving slab...plus I wasn't gunna pay out for kirsh just to make a bit of cake;)

To be serious tho...has anyone seen tins of black cherries lately? Other than a 'specialist' type supermarket? We don't have any of those wonderful sounding asian/eastern type supermarkets anywhere near & I didn't think to look in MrA when I was there the other week.

Hello, haven't been in for a while, been rather busy but thought I had better make the effort. Hope you are all doing well. I'm doing VERY well so far this month because I am working my way through the freezer still so all I have bought is fresh items I have needed etc, amazing what's been eaten and what is still left. For example this week so far all I have paid for is milk and bread, I will need fruit and veg this weekend but still not a great deal. So far spent £35.69 and under 2 weeks left for my month :D so far so good!!!
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

Yes!!! Sainsbugs do them - black cherries in juice at about £1.05 a tin. I've been eating them every morning on my oats and down to my last tin :(

Our local tesco only does red cherries in syrup in jars, as does Lidl ;)
