Hi denise
Yes... i wipe the inside of the freezer over with a bit of neat fabric softener on a cloths/sponge.. shut the door and switch it back on for a few minutes before whacking all the food back in... I have never had the smell contaminate any food.. think it almost freezes into the frost when it first freezes up....
Then when you defrost again the ice just comes away really easily
you can use glycerine if you are at all worried about the smell transfering...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Hi everyone spent £6.70 yesterday in Mr S on milk still 2x 4pt for £2 crumpets, and few other bits. Collected the car from the garage and had a repair bill of £929.00! main computer in car needed replacing. So will probably be living on bread & water till end of the month.:rolleyes:2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Interesting re the voucher things- I used some in Boots yesterday but spend ages thinking do I really need these things, and the answer in that case was yes! Was going to explain why lol, but decided not to bore people. I have also had 2 x £3 off £20 shopping vouchers for COOP this week but have resisted using as most of the bits I wanted were in Lidl or local. I guess we just have to make sure when using vouchers or BOGOF's or whatever that we are really going to use the stuff at some point and not just keep buying buying buying. This said in Boots I have had some good bargains, cash and point wise, and am happy knowing that I have a whack of points which can be used for toiletries, night nappies etc one week if we are really struggling, or for presents at Christmas. I use Boots more now too as we only have Boots and 1 other chemist chain (a local one), used to use Superdrug, SemiChem etc more when lived in Glasgow. Ok, still suffering from sore belly so have ended up vegetating in front of MSE lol _pale_ :silenced: :coffee: needed x
PS Freezer inventory sounds like a great idea....cannot remember who said they were planning one but thanks.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Thanks Mrs M, just found it by searching thread for 'defrost', hands smell lovely now- freezer is now merrily freezing up again and mince, sausages, etc sitting cooling on the side - still have chicken breast, pork chops & two huge joints of beef cooking in oven - going to slice that up and freeze for individual meals - sweating buckets here and have to keep popping outside for some fresh air...:rotfl: - NOT COMPLAINING, SUN, YOU KEEP SHINING...:rotfl:
Now all I have to deal with is the washing up...:p
Hubby has decided that because it's father's day, he's going to sit and do nothing all day... anyone would think he had a bad back...:D Oh, that ol' complaint...LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
Well my freezer is emptied now-all contents on the garage floor. UFO's! Unidentified frozen objects!!!
Now comes the painful part-listing i all. Well it keeps me away from the shops at least. Found some of last years apple so may pick some rhubarb from the garden and make a crumble later. It will all get eaten no doubt and I really dont want to freeze any. Imsure my reezer fills itself up at times-or else Im still addicted to buying food?
edit-now listed everything! My goodness-theres loads. My son (19)came in and asked if we had had an Asda or Iceland delivery. No, I said, tihs is all from the freezer. Thats a LOT he said! Says it all.I really should go back to menu planning.
I found some gammon steaks in there and Ive taken them out for tea and also a pork joint for tomorrow.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Hi folks,
just thought I would sign in again to say to BigMummaF , glad to hear the pup is doing well,
and to thank annelouise for the onion relish recipe and to ask you if anyone as a tomato relish recipe as OH has about 50 tomato plants in the greenhouse and I dont think we could eat all the tomatoes they may produce,
I love reading this thread, as well as getting some good advice and lots of recipes you can get some good hints, as I was about to clean out my freezer then saw a MRSMACAWBER post about wiping down with fabric softner so I will give that a try today .
I had forgotten it was fathers day I may make OH a nice lunch and pamper him a bit today
well see you soonmortgage free as of 06/02/2008#

Hi Guys,
Been to tescos with my NOTW voucher and done the weekly shop, can't believe I had to take the last of the milk out the freezer I bought 8 x 4pints only in the last week in may!!!!!! still I spose its healthy. Did I hear that morrisions or Tescos have an offer on milk??? Anyhow, after this mornings shop (found I had run out of some stuff) I only have just under £13 left for fruit and veg will go to the market instead next weekend and be strong and stick to FRUIT & VEG. Nothing not even chocolate will jump into my bageven if it does shout "BUY ME" !
Feeling virtuous and defrosted a load of muffins and shortbread from last week, Batch cooking is truly the way forward. I have loads of stuff in my freezers.
SmetF - Welcome the more the merrier! But be careful its addictive!
Poppyoscar - Thanks for the recipe guess what I'm now making for tea!
JennyBee - Take it easy and look after yourself! I know everyone will say that till you wish to gradually strangle them but things will get easier but rest whilst you can. I remember the health visitor saying, You can only be the best mother if you look afteryourself!
Natzini - whats the deal with the ebay buyer? nosy I know!
Mrs Snowy - Welcome back from your hols!
AnneLouise - Thanks for the great recipe
Big Mumma F - Pleased to hear your puppy is slightly better, we are a nation of softies with our pets (well the nice peeps are!)
Orkney star - hope your tummy is better soon.

Hi Dink,
Yes, Tesco & Asda have offers - 'buy 2 x 4 pints for £2' and 'buy 2 x 6 pints for £3' not sure if anyone else is doing it or not. I got 2 x 6 pints of full fat and watered them down by 1/3rd, so got 18 pints for £3, well chuffed.
Off to shops now to buy some more and fill up freezer again. it was lucky that I was running it down a bit ready for a re-fill - I think I have some more batch cooking to do...:D
Anyone thought about the naan & waffle re-freezing after cooking? I have done it anyway but reluctant to eat just in case...LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

I doubt you would get ill from eating them. I think that they may turn out a bit chewy and the texture may change, but theyre not gonna do any harm. Meat is fine if you cook and then refreeze so I dont see why these should be any different.
