Bob re the books I'd like to buck the trend & say keep them! In my early days as a DFW I sold loads of stuff in a knee jerk reaction & some I would like to but will never get back...the debt will go but some things are precious & could be kept! For me when I have a dilemma like that I always ask myself if I sell this it will make me debt free a month earlier - is it worth the sacrifice? Most of the times I say yes & flog it but some things are not to be sold...Hope you decide ok!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Thanks very much HWGA, i must admit i smile when i see your name, because it reminds me of a song..Whitesnake, a bit of David coverdale..is always welcome.
As for learning much, i have to tell you it gets a wee bit wacky, but it is a learning curve..and i enjoy the wackiness.
And well done on the weightloss.xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

I know what you mean, i am thinking i will leave it for a while as one of them was a lovely gift of a wonderful woman..she is one of my inspirations and actually MR.Bs Gran..yep the mother of the wicked witch of the North East, how she produced her, i will never know. I digress, she reached 102 years of age, and gave me the book when i passed my first degree, telling me at the time how much she admired me as a mature student with a poorly baby ( her words as i would never have said that myself) Her aunt was a teacher and she had given her this book, so i feel a strong sense of the past and what it meant to her to give me this book...oh, i am waffling now..but i was a bit tempted when the nearest one to it and not in as good a condition, was about £370..shop price! So would be worth less to sell to a shop.
I will sleep on it as they say.:oBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

:j Hi Bob I always come up with this old chesnut for people to gauge how precious something is to them , which is, If you were going to emigrate to Australia , and obviously limited to how much you could take , would you pay to take those books with you ?Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. Oh Bob.... I have to go with ISOM on this one, to keep them. There's a huge amount of history there, a real solid connection.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Bob I know what you mean about loving books. I had a big book declutter a while ago, was really strict with myself about stuff I know I won't read again, but it's so hard isn't it ? Still have quite a few books but nowhere near as many as I used to have. No first editions for me though
I bought oh a book about Genesis YEARS ago, which he's still got, and that now sells for about £150 on Amazon.

Herewegoagain funnily enough your name reminds me of a Dolly Parton song, something along the lines of 'Here you go again, looking better than a body has a right to' Do you know the one I mean ? Or is it ' Here you come again ' ? Something like that lolNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0
