I recon having a separate account may well be a good idea, as is just doing with one car if you can...saves alot but needs to be doable! Hang in there & well done on ebay sales - just think how you would have been without em eh!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Well, after talk with the laid back MR........,its only one month, it'll never happen again,oh !!!! was it really that much?, my card must have been cloned, oh no it hasn't, i don't know what to say.....BOB!!!!the !!!!er!!!grrrrr:mad:
We had a thorough look through the petrol and matched up receipts, which were all in his wallet:rolleyes: Does he not think i can check online? It turns out that, yes that is the amount, but no he hasn't spent it all in a month...now to explain that bit, the actual date of transaction and date it went out haven't tallied, as in two cases they have actually been 13 days later...still it went out of this months money. So i made him add up the total over two months and the actual amount is £350 per month when divided by the weeks. About £100 over his estimate. No wonder:mad: nothing adds up! I worked out with car loan, maintenance of said car, etc..his monthly cost is equivalent to our mortgage! Now i may only be worthy of a small car, as i don't need a substitute for my !!!!!!, but perlease what more does he need to convince him? so i said, if you can find a way to afford the car..then do so. His answer..i'll get another job. Left myself open on that one, didn't I?:o
I also checked on the road to make sure no petrol leaks, and there wasn't. He also said on his gadget thing, that petrol is averaged at 34mpg, not what i thought earlier. I expect that as usual i will have to give in and flog my car, get an older model and give in as usual. ...
Sorry for the rant guys, its just i can never see a way around his attitude at times. I have tried to pull back( as in seeing how i could change my attitude, and looking at stuff through his eyes) and he is great in a lot of other ways. I have just given up arguing the toss with him, as it is in one ear and out of the other. I wish i could be more like Rod Hull and operate the emu a bit better:cool:
On another note, thanks for the lovely words, miggy and bubbles..i won't nick money off your little un though!:rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Morning Bob....I don't know what to say to that Bob ..it doesn't make sense for you to get rid of yours if you have to work all over the place. He must have a big car if it's only doing 34mpg....Fuel is the hardest part to calculate in my budget as well as it's forever rising and my miles are so variable so as such I can't have a proper budget so can totally feel for you.
Don't worry about the rant as (1)it's your diary and (2) you are perfectly justified as if Mr Bob is anything like Mr Taxi he just lets me get on with the finances and doesn't take much interest in what we have to pay out.
Hope you have a good day xxx Take care xxx0 -
Rant away Bob- it doesn't seem fair when you're trying to see things from his point of view but he doesn't seem to try the same.. then again, as one of my mates would say "it's because he's a boy"
How's things today? xDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Thankyou, and you are right he has a Nissan Primera, lovely car, but last year cost us a fortune, as it was banged into with lorry stuff falling off, keyed, and scraped.
Then there was the maintenance... He got it when he was self employed as he could offset the value of the car, but not any more. And he had my car, which was an estate initially, all bought and paid for as a swap in for it....The idea when he went self employed was to make money, and he did, but he neglected quite a bit!
I was just a bit mad yesterday as i could see myself losing my car again..and i saved up for the 30% deposit for it, plus an old Punto which i had been driving round in, never asked him for any contribution towards it.... I would say as a family we all go in the car maybe once? Twice a month? and of course hols.
He is a bit of an Emu, and last night fell asleep no probs afterwards as usual, whilst i am awake wondering how to get out of it.
Hi Squizz, i know what you mean, i just thought people would see me as having a right downer on him all the time..its not the case, just certain areas of our life..which after 23 years you would have thought i would be used to. I try to look at it, that he is working hard and long hours, and i have seen quite a few threads were folk are in debt due to OH, and how they feel..so i am working hard on not finger pointing but trying to be proactive about him tackling his problems...I know i had car debt and a couple of small credit cards, but the money was honestly there for it all last year..before his tax bill, and accountants fees and a couple of other things. I have lost count of the times he and i (in the early days of our marriage) Have scraped out of something, and i just wanted to be able to plan for the future amd our kids future....it is like self sabotaging all the time..if that makes sense. I genuinly believe that he is doing the best he can, because that is the way he is...and he does have an awful lot of good points,
Caring and considerate to folk, children etc.
loving dad, would help anyone, would give me the shirt off his back..mind i reckon i will have it anyway...
Just this side to him...............:o
Right no more now, back to turnip lobbing and the like:rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

You are justified in all your thoughts regarding this and if Mr Bob is anything like Mr Taxi then I have to word it so that he thinks it's a good idea.Has he even realised that his car is dead money(so to speak) due to not being able to offset it against his earnings...the thought may have never crossed his mind....I'm sure there is a way that you can sort this problem between you....he sounds perfect in all other ways.
There is no easy answer unless you get him around to your way of thinking.Would it be cheaper on public transport..would he be able to use your car .Do you need two cars?...all questions that need looking at.We got rid of our Zafira as it would sit from week to another not being used.I can walk most places ..if I didn't need a car as a taxi I wouldn't have one as they are so expensive to run.0 -
BOB
just a quicky(!) from me as ds just woke but
its cos hes not from our planet
much like mine
dont know how their cogs turn but if i new, wow id be rich
ive been with mine for nearly 8 years and ive always seen the FIL in him
his dad is 65
would look great on that show 'grumpy old men'
my OH has the inclinations to turn into him
i do not think i could cope if i was my MIL
i like to see the positives in everything and not dwell on the negatives and not get het up over the slightest little thing
my OH is the opposite
but thats the only part of him id change, like you its just one part
do we have to accept it warts an all?
i dunno, maybe if i new the answer to that as well id be mega rich
well that wasnt a 'quicky' was it
did you have many;):rotfl: :rotfl:
loves ya catch ya laterxx
p.s im on about 19 subscribed-did think how the hell does she do over a mil:rolleyes:I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
I have left him with a few things to think about over the next few days. I did suggest swapping both cars in for a different model, which may be more economical and would also if newer not have the costs. i have thought of working more locally myself and just staying in schools around here. It may come to that, and the money isn't bad..so i will try hard for that over the next month.
Public transport would be a nightmare for him, as it is two trains..adding to a long day.
i will find a way around it.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Weirdly enough he used to look like his dad, but as he got older other than the balding, he looks more and more like his mother ..the wicked witch of the North East...hmmm, do you think i have a downer on him because of this? Is very off putting at times...i can tell you ( i have to close my eyes;) )
How do i do a million? Why i speed read:rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
