    Debt-free and Proud!
Spooky - just been out brambling - and got a haul from the local fields - as well as our own front garden! Also first four apples from our little apple tree which we were given for our CP two years ago. So it is blackberry and apple something tonight! :T:T

Re. drama thing - taxi has a point. The illness and what have you might mitigate her not getting the merit - worth a try. But it is a very competitive area I know - my niece spent ages trying to get a place at drama school and in the mean time spent time getting experience in different theatres etc. She's finally in and going this autumn. But it has taken years of determination. Maybe worth doing something related and trying again in a year or two with that as additional weight to her application?
  • Thanks Taxi, Olive and Miz...i know exactly what you are saying..and i will try to get her on another course. She didn't have a good time with that group as one of the girls internet bullied her, we had proof took it in and then she tried underhanded tactics by getting others on her side. I felt it should have gone straight to the police, nasty business! But it did affect her confidence a bit, and she had a lot to deal with anyway.I wouldn't want her on the next level if any of those little sods are on it! Also she wanted to do something where her disabilities don't come into play, the only time it affected her were treatments and hospital appts..but wanted them understandably kept private except for her closest friends.
I think the route where she gains outside experience would be good, and i have been trying a few contacts for her..she is already lined up to do a couple of auditions and i have a couple of theatre contacts which i am hoping to use..for work experience. In the meantime i am going to try another local college, as she has the points to get in...

The area which she didn't recieve a merit in was dance, and her blood sugar levels were low that day, as a diabetic she also gets heavy legs..the tutor knew this and had commented on her dedication for going to extra dance and even having done a dance show and a play in the two weeks previously! so i didn't see what her problem was..she was very good, and i wonder exactly what they are looking for..dedication wise! But it is a competative area and i am positive that she will be doing something better and go on to do good things!

Thanks again everyone for your comments, all appreciated and certainly gives me something to think about.

The point to which you refer beginning "the area she didn't receive a merit in......." that whole paragraph was the whole reason that I thought due to her trying so hard that after talking to her tutors could get her what she needs.
Going down the contacts route also sounds good as sometimes it's who you know in that game..I wish her all the luck and hopefully shes a little more cheery about it now...sending her some hugs xx

  • Well as ever, you lot have given sound advice.
DD2 has got on a course in ND media at the next level, and she will be able to apply for uni next year..so she is chuffed. We went today and they were impressed by her positive attitude, and also how determined she is. I think contacts for theatres will come in handy as one used to do media and worked for granada..she is giving her a lot of advice.
Interestingly enough it is the same dept and she had a glowing reference from Drama, which is why she was accepted!

DS has an interview after passing a three hour test, so fingers crossed.x

    breathes sigh of relief.........

forgot to add she is very cheery today, and has been bouncing around with a grin that could power a light bulb!

    Glad DD is sorted. :D
  • Me too Olive, i think the media and drama element of it will give her a bit of grounding and experience as well as her amateur dramatics. Plus i can call you for further advice, already being an established actress (mental note to get autograph!)
