if you're going to the Leeds meet I'll bring you some apples Bob.
There's not enough room in our freezer for the crop from 12 apple trees :p

Last year I gave away carrier bags full to guys from my Drama group, and not one of them brought me a slice of apple cake :p:p:p
And I made apple brandy for Christmas presents  delish.

I am not going unfortunately olive, would love to meet you all in person..but so much going on that weekend....i love Yorkshire as well but will hopefully join you online:D

it isn't what we do but how we react to things which help us succeed in life..look at the apprentice as an example!

People pay out hundreds, even thousands of pounds in therapy to learn that, you know. Truly! Thats the reality behind the old saw, "life is what you make it".

My DS2 was incredibly stressed by his A-levels. It didn't help that he'd put all his eggs in one basket, if he hadn't got the grades, he had no plan B.
They think it is the end of the world if they don't get it right (correct) NOW.

Even my 3 can see that I have had all manner of "new starts" with different careers. I've done social work, merchant banking, teaching and accountancy. But I was over 40 before I admitted that actually I'd wanted to be an actress :rotfl: I thought my parents would disapprove of such a facile career. Years later I found all manner of theatre workers within our family tree, and my father admired them all:rotfl: :rotfl:

We call our 17 trees "the orchard" it makes us feel so grand. :D

my house was built on an orchard (that is what my house is actually called to be honest ) but all the plants and trees have got lost so i am determined to keep what i can one apple tree and two plumb trees i love them ...wish i lived where you are
  • I used to like acting as well Olive, it is all my dd has ever wanted to do..
I thought that when dd1 did her A levels and got married in the same breath, that it was so tense...but this seems to beat it.
she was remarkably relaxed about it all, as had deferred her year at uni, so she could settle into married quarters..learned a lot about life that year she did!

I also think we should all follow our dreams..life is too short not to!

There are other routes into acting.
Can she talk to people in her drama group about alternatives?

It is quite expensive to go to Drama college.......

Or am I misunderstanding her problem?

Hi Bob...such a shame that she can pass but without a merit or distiction can't get in.This may sound daft but because she has had a lot of illness is it maybe worth talking to the tutors to see if anything can be done because of her illness?...Well done to her as she did pass the exams as well.
Well done to DS too sounds like he may have that job..good luck to him.
