    Ah right,

I thought I had to know the exact amounts to include in BR? If this is the case then I assume I just get the tax due "estimated" by HMRC and include it this way:confused: .

Gonna cancel all DDS now, I'm already 1 month behind on Mortgaage, should I pay this and then miss next months (next week) payment keeping me 1 month in arrears but not in trouble???

Gonna have to look for a cheap runner for OH as I'm assuming they'll be quick to repo the X5 when they know I'm BR:rolleyes:

    Hi ITBS,

I'm not being flippant here, and with mortgages I am speaking from personal experience; don't pay it this month. We were 9 months in arrears and still managed to keep our house, and arrears also erode equity and thereby B.I; it's a win win situation; you get the cash you need and you improve your future chances of keeping your house, which I know is important to you.

The figures I submitted were accurate where I could be, but the rest were just best estimates; no need for any more really.

I'm afraid the X5 will be a casualty; I lost a mega boys toy too.:cry:

I just had 'people' come to repo my car today. The battery was so flat they couldn't even open the car doors, therefore couldn't open the bonnet to jump start the car. The result is the car is still sitting in the driveway. He phoned back (spoke to my husband) to say that the extra trip he would have to make blah blah etc etc was just costing me more charges and it would be best if I just made the finance company an offer. husband told him to tell the finance co all that and btw, the car had been involved in an accident and wasn't worth much now anyway. I know where its going for auction and was going to go and bid for it, don't think I'll bother if a flat battery can cause so much trouble. My daughter got locked in the car a couple of months ago and we were just lucky to get the doors opened before resorting to breaking the window!

    Thanks very much Richard,

    That has reassured me slightly.

Think I will take tomorrow off work and get all this sorted, or at least the ball rolling. I will ring HMRC and ask them for one week to come up with a solution to this, in the meantime I will see if i can be made BR before the deadline is up.

    I am so stressed now

tell em your posting a cheque for the full amount
    dash round and go br
send em a copy of your BO
Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...

ITBS, sorry to hear that the great taxi plan hasn't saved you from this.

Whereas a lot of creditors would not incur the costs of making you bankrupt, without a good chance of getting some return, HMRC don't seem to see it this way.

It may well be that HMRC will make you bankrupt saving you the costs. In bankruptcy you would lose the expensive toys so whether HMRC make a grab for assets or you surrender them in bankruptcy may not be important.

They should allow you to keep the taxi, to allow you the opportunity to work.

From your first thread, I saw the risk that this could happen; bad timing when you were just getting on your feet with the cabbing, but at least now you have the capability to earn some cash. As you say, if the debts go then you could end up better off.

Don't let it get you down.

    Hi ITBS.

Have you checked with your court what kind of appointment system they have? Some have `pay & go BR system` (sorry but that what it seems like) others have waiting lists up to a month! Will help re timescales if you have no other option.

Also (& I think you have done this anyway) make sure that you have spoken to debt charities re BR options as the court will ask you.

    Good luck,

    Thanks Silver,

At least i give it 110%.............

I'd sooner pay the fees myself and still have some control over it rather than have HMRC turn up and frighten my OH or turn up when she has her friends round.

Cant believe it has come to this

    Hi Silvercar,

Do you notice a change in tactics by the HMRC?

It's one thing to petition for the bankruptcy of a sole trader or partnership, but something completely different when they turn up at your door with 5 days notice of removing anything of value.

    Interesting times.
