I don't actually recall PayPal saying you have to be 18 to open an account with them though? I'm not a troll, I'm actually having this problem.

You do have to be 18 years old or over to have a Paypal account.

    2. Eligibility and Types of Accounts
    1. 2.1 Eligibility. To be eligible for our Services, you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of one of the countries listed on the PayPal Worldwide page. This Agreement applies only to Users who are residents of the United Kingdom and all other European Union countries except Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Poland and the “send only” regions (these send only regions are further specified on the PayPal website(s)). If you are a resident of another country, you may access your agreement from the PayPal website(s) in your country (if applicable).
You have to put your age in when you register you must have lied, which could be viewed as a act of fraud if they find out!!!

Here is the section from the user agreement you need to agree to when signing up.

Quite simply you have made several errors and oversites. The problem is of your own making.

The only option is to borrow money from a family member get it in your bank account and then once e-cheque is clear close your paypal account.

Please also start to pay a bit more attention to what you are agreeing too.

    :o No worries

    Least the OP now knows.
He should keep track of his money, if this is the way he is acting now as for the OP getting a current account at 18 is very unlikely, not to say he cant open another Paypal now as you can only open one per bank account.:rotfl:

Ok so I am going to get this resolved and not use PayPal again. I know it was a stupid idea and I only have myself to blame. I will close the PayPal account as soon as this is sorted as it's a lot of hassle and not a good situation.

    Your right there.
However I just wonder if while your trying to sort it that Paypal dont find out about your real age, if that is the case you may well find them writing to you!
You really have to take better care with your accounts, if you go overdrawn with Natwest at the least youll find it very hard to get a current account for many years with them as they think if you cant handle money now when can you.
    Goodluck with it

Ok lets be realistic here. Most under 18's are going to do things that require them to be 18 etc. How many of you can say you never touched alcohol until you were 18, smoked a cigarette until you were 16 and even for some, had sex until you were 16. Chances are, most of you have broken one of these three laws.

Now down to the matter at hand, I'm not entirely sure of Natwests Unauthorised Overdraft pollicy for their under 18's account, however chances are that the echeque is going to bounce. I'm with Lloyds and have an under 19's account (Same as all other under 18's account) and when I had an echeque come out for £200 that bounced (a payment didn't clear that I expected), Lloyds charged me £20 for a 'returned payment' fee.

For the most part, PayPal will not charge you for a bounced echeque, but here is the big problem, if the echeque bounces the first time, PayPal will attempt to take the money out a second time from your 'backup funding source', which unless you changed, is the same account, which means once again, another fee and bounced echeque.

My advise is you need to borrow the money from someone. It's not worth the hassle from either your bank nor PayPal. Also, DO NOT RING YOUR BANK OR PAYPAL and ask them anything, as you are under 18 and therefore your bank will ask questions and so will PayPal. If PayPal find out you're under 18, then they will suspend your account with all the funds in it, until your 18th Birthday. Natwest will simply close your account if they notice you're under 18 and using PayPal, so don't ask questions from either companies.

Dont agree sorry, he has chosen to contact them, this is the best way forward, to be HONEST.
If he sorts it now then itll be less worse later, Paypal are not stupid, if he keeps the account he has now and later needs to contact them when he is over 18 then hell have problems if he needs to send in ID for his limits to be lifted and they want a ID proof with age on.
    Honestly is the best policy.
