as soon as Scottish and Southern put up their prices they normally follow suit shortly after.
Unless I have forgoten something I have not found this to be borne out by the facts in my years of being with them, once a year so far, around September timeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I'm also thinking of switching too but so far I have only read speculation from other forums including this one. The people who are with EBICo are generally satisifed so I may take the plunge in a few months time.
I am with npower and am a low user so I could potentially save £20-50 on top of my annual £80 discount (via monthly direct debit). Rates are cheap compared to the rest of the market.
Ebico uses Scottish and Southern Energy (S&SE) as the licensed supplier to deliver EquiGas and EquiPower so customers have full access to all the backup services if things ever did go wrong.
NOTE if you are a MEDIUM OR HIGH user stay clear of EBico as these prices are only competitive for low users of gas (<£100/yr) and electricity (<£130/yr). Try the usual comparision sites to check which meet your needs.0 -

Is it really as low a usage as £100yr, £130yr that or do you mean a quarter.0 -
I am very satisfied with ebico. Their supplier for me is swalec0

I get the impression that BG are the first to start a round of price increases. The others hold on until enough new customers have joined them and then they have similar or greater increases.
I have lost count of how many of the utility companies have been a 'best buy' for me in the past couple of years - although many held that position for only a couple of weeks.0 -

They used to increase in September only, but in Spring 2008 ( ironically April 1st) increased both gas and lec, PLUS they aligned themselves with future SSE increases, so there will be another one soon.

Ebico have to buy their supplies from someone and I would imagine SSE are one of the better ones, especially with regard to customer service.
Basically in this country we have six energy providers who are supposed to compete with one another.
We all know to our cost
THEY DO NOT.
They operate more like a cartel.
As Energywatch pointed out,if they really wanted to compete, one would slash prices to get more customers.
Instead we have this great big merry-go-roung by all six of them to gain customers with silly gimmicks and false claims "we are the cheapest",and so many different tariffs that makes it impossible to compare like with like.
The real winners in all this are the comparison sites who get about £50 for every customer they "persaude" to switch,by promising big savings,on dubious information built into their searches.0 -
And probably the comparison sites are owned by the
energy companies anyway.0 -

Am I really a high user then? Quarterly usage gas 2070 kWh and electric1849 kWh. I am looking to switch providers as I am currently with British Gas for dual fuel and on their standard rate tariff Gas 7.259p / 3.688p and Electric 28.871p / 9.612p. These are very high compared to the others shown on the comparison site I visited. British Gas came up as the cheapest supplier for me (what a joke!) but for tariffs I am not eligible for, but Ebico came out best after them. I am currently paying by direct debit, gas £49pm and electric was £52 but they have just put it up to £105pm, hence the reason for switching. It seems that switching to Ebico could take them up to three months, according to some reviews I have read. Can anyone give me advice on the best way to go about switching and their experiences with Ebico as a similar user as us please?0
