I have a Dell 5150 desktop with Pentium processor and as already stated I had no problems with either the download or computer since updating.
The only thing I had to do was update my Trend Antivirus to a later edition as the version I had was not compatable with SP3, Trend knew about the problem and it was a free upgrade.0 -
& in device manager, the drivers for my "multi media controller" are not installed.
Is that the sound?
If it's in the Sound, video and game controllers section then it probably is the sound card/on-board sound.
If you are using an on-board sound device then the drivers from Fujitsu Siemens are the ones you need.
If you are using a separate sound card, you will need to find out the make and model and then download the drivers from the makers website.
If the latter, and you don't fancy opening up the PC to find out the make/model, PC Wizard will usually give you enough info to work on:

One word of advice is if you have the spec for machine, then Vista is a good OS. my recommendations are that you have at least 2gb of ram and a dual core processor at a minimum, if you want all the fancy things of vista you will also need a good graphics card.
Why not try alternatives such as Ubuntu. I really impressed with the latest edition (8.04) and its free!0 -

Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz
2.78 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
Does that make sense? Is that not enough RAM?0 -
RAM is like money, you can never have enough but in this case it will do just fine, as long as it ain't faulty.
But seriously mrse go back to post 4, making huge changes to the system without diagnosing what is wrong is just pointless really.
After all what you have has done well for 3 yrs, a few updates aren't going to make that much difference.
And for future reference if a device has no drivers loading, it won't appear in the right section of device manager anyway, it will be in "Other Devices"
To check if the sound chipset is responsible for these problems simply go in to the bios screen and disable all sound related options under "peripheral devices" or Chipset/pci
Look for midi,ac97 and game controller" set all to disabled and reboot.click here to achieve nothing!0 -

fj siemens machines can vary but it should tell you which key to press when you power on.
Try F2, F10 and del keys (most common ones) but you have to hit them before windows starts loading, can take a bit of practice on modern machinesclick here to achieve nothing!0
