I hate to be the one to bump this up again, but when I asked about this before, a few people reckoned that people were adding a Thanks post just to get their post count up.......

I'm with Al Mac on this one - use the Thanks button - that's what it's for :)

I don't think that people would do it if they didn't get "points"

I know i like to open the cereal box first so i can gloat and wind up ds with the plastic toy, but thanks dont do it for me, Im 36 and passed the stage of excitment at a extra thanks, its ridiculous if posts are bumped just for thanks, it aint a competiton to see who can get the most thanks, its just an acknowledgment of your helpfulness, The only real refernce that i use it for is knowing if a mser is a bit dodgy, ie on freebies if a mser has 30 posts no thanks, i wonder why?! and become wary of applying etc ..........xxxx
anyway gotta mop kitchen...............i get no thanks for that! xxx

I do reply with a thanks sometimes but not very often... when I do its usually when someone has posted somethng such as a list of comp answers from a magazine as I like to say thanks for the effort they have put in..

However, most of the time I just use the thanks button because if everyone was replying to all the threads with a thanks this forum would a a total muddle up.

I also tend to enter comps by sorting the threads in date order (so it doesn't matter about threads been bumped up), then if I want to chat i just change it back to last post order
Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

I'm completely with Al Mac on this one, I think the Thanks button does a great job. We are a community and I love the helpful posts and occasional banter but don't enjoy ploughing through all the "Thanks" posts to get to them
This will be mine for 2009: 1) ITV Cash Win 2) Weekend break in a place I have never been to before 3) A Hairstyle revamp/Makeover

I must do better than last year? - Mar 2009- tickets to see Hairspray

:p ok everyone, scratch the itch - let's get all our 'thanks' out of the way now! I would first off like to say thanks to Toni for mopping the floor, nice job girl - keep up the good work.

And thanks to Sting for the memorable night on Tuesday.... (aaaah the sweet memories!!)And of course my parents - without them I wouldn't be here! :rotfl:

Apart from that, I'm still spreading the happy, happy joy, joy!! (I'm in a brill mood again today!!) :j
The Rock Chick, she say 'courtesy costs nowt' - spread the word! :D

Would people please stop replying to threads pointlessly. Pressing the thanks button is the best way of saying thanks and also the best way of showing you've entered.

    Many thanks.

    Al Mac

PS I have asbestos underwear on, so am prepared to be flamed;)
Just in case our dear OP does an 'Al Mac', here he is, preserved for posterity so you can see what all that fuss was about.

Just to add a point - you could have put this on the discussions thread so as not to 'mess up' this one:rotfl: :rotfl:

(Retreats to a safe distance and locks the door.):D

No he's not, but I am and the forum rules for the comps board clearly state

    8. No Bumping Of Posts. Please do not just bump posts for the sake of it. This disrupts the boards.

If only people took time out to read them
