Ok, my last reply on this topic since I don't want it to develop further:
I do appreciate all your effort and what you are saying, but don't forget that it is hard to post competitions that are not already posted, which means that people who are not in front of a computer 24/7 (at work or in the uni or looking after the kids) are less advantaged in terms of their access to these new competitions. All I am trying to say is, give people time to make sense of the whole forum before they start posting; the fact that they have joined and have become visible shows that they do intend to contribute, it just takes time.0 -
Quick Comment :
I do both, lists and normal comps
But please don't let them go, I always like to check xD0 -

I appreciate what you are saying, but I graduated in the summer and didn't find it hard to spare some minutes to post a comp/help with the ending lists. Giving them chance to contribute more is fair enough, but I think the point that people have been trying to make is that whilst the comps ending lists are around, this won't happen because its too easy for them just to come on, use the list and go0 -

opps sorry - started a row and then wandered off, I think senility is starting early!
My 'problem' with the lists - well I don't have a problem with the lists as such, but I do with the hassle on the board they cause.
The lists never used to exist - one comper was ill and thought it a kind helpful gesture to compile a list. Then suddenly everone was doing it - lists were popping up everywhere - different dates/the same dates/weeks in advance etc. Chaos descended.
The lists were banned, then after a campaign they were allowed back under strict rules. Thus ends the brief history.
MY PROBLEM:
1. The constant sniping about who/why/how many/haven't got time/not done right etc
2. The comps ending were created to help folks in our comping community, what the have endded up doing is helping folk who don't really want to join the community - they want a quick fix, jump in for an hour enter asap and leave. Not a 'hello' nor a 'how are you' mostly 'guests' entering who don't give 2 hoots how the comps got there in the first place.
3. comping is a fun hobby - the wins are a bonus, too many people are seeing it as a chore and time consuming.Jo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52

I found the list when I was googling for an F1 competition and have been an active member of the community ever since, so there are exceptions to the rules... although saying that if there were no lists, you'd never have been lumbered with me in the first place0

I think what gets me is the - I need comps ending lists so I don't miss a comp, and the I must enter every single comp going - stance.
Does it really matter if people don't get to enter every comp. I just enter the ones I would really love to win, then any others I enter are a bonus.
Plus I know when I'm up to date, then it won't take me long to stay on top on the comps forum, hopefully. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

Let's not carry this on any further, there are far less friendly places on the internet (in fact this place is one of the more friendly that I have experienced). All internet forums (and email) tend to suffer from a lack of non-verbal communications and newbies who don't know just how many times some of their questions have been answered by older-hands. It's best to take it on the chin and move on.
Let's all just get along and get on with business of posting and winning those comps !!
I used to be on the bargain hunting thread, glitches, etc, but it could get so nasty out in the big MSE world. Comps section is soo helpful, and friendly, I really like it here, and it got me back into MSE again.
Only just started spending the Big Snap wins that lots of us had in the spring, and thought I would start comping again. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

When I started on this site, I really liked the comps ending lists, because it allowed me to find my feet, without feeling overwhelmed. I'm now starting to rely on them less, but it is nice to check in to make sure I haven't missed a comp that I really like the look of.
I have also only recently discovered (keeping in mind that I only joined on 31/07) that some people sorted out their comps by last post, because I didn't even know that you could do that when I first started comping here. I suppose it didn't help that this is the first forum I have ever joined, so a lot of the terminology was new to me, and I didn't get the way things worked. Which meant that I didn't realise that when I was trying to be helpful (because I wanted to do my part on this site) by doing Game Over posts, that I was making some people's comping experience less enjoyable. So, to all those people, I would like to offer my most sincere apologies. It is a scientific fact that your body will not absorb calories if you take it from another person's plate.:A :A :AChocolate is the answer and I don't give a damn whatthe question is.;)0 -
YAY! We are back up & running! Managed to finish off the 31st list by 1am this morning, had most of them done, was pleased at just how many I had previously go through0
