LO has been in a bed at home for a short while now, well it's bunk beds with her sister so that's why we thought it was the right time to allow her to stay at Grandma's. It's a good job I trust my MIL isn't it lol?

I'd say so! We see my family a lot more than my oh's. The kids have never stayed at his mums, in fact she's never even taken them out for a walk!

  • Well like I said my youngest is almost 2, my own Mum has seen her for 2 hours her whole life & she lives in the same county as us :( I don't mind too much but it just seems a sad shame really.

Do you not get on with your family? Luckily my family are close, theres not that many of us! My oh's family very rarely come round, he always has to go down to their house to visit. All of us live within 2 miles of each other aswell, its sometimes a bit too close actually! :rotfl:

  • My Dad lives really close & the kids adore him, there is probably the same distance between us & my Dad as they is between us & MIL so we walk out the door then decide which way to walk :rotfl:

Possibly, but I never used them either, although I realise there has been a problem with them coming through.

I think this comping lark has got far too serious IMO, specially on here in the lasy year or so, this board has got bigger and bigger and sometimes its a competition in itself trying to post and keep up with it!

I do it as a bit of fun, a hobby, I don't make lists, keep records etc, I am in it to win it, but its not the end of the world if I don't :)

I couldn't have put it better myself.

In the 2 years I've been here the forum has changed dramatically. There used to be about 40 new comps a day, now it can be nearer 200. When I first joined I thought 10 thanks for a comp was amazing, now you can get over 300 (thanks are an indicator of how many people have entered the same comp).

Whilst not a user of the comps ending threads, I was (& am) supportive of them because of the number of members who wanted them, and because of the number comps being bumped just before their end date (that still happens but nowhere near as much as before the comps ending threads was introduced).

It would be nice if more of those who use the comp ending threads contributed to them, but they are a bonus not a right. It'd be interesting to see what would happen if they weren't posted for a day or two and then whenever someone asked where they are, you could answer "I thought it was your turn to do them?" (joke).

The other thing I've noticed is an increase in the number of people entering comps without thinking, especially for gigs or events. I've stopped posting comps for less well known bands or events. Similarly, there seems to have been an increase in the number of members motivated by greed rather than treating comping as a hobby or just a bit of fun, with the occasional nice surprise of a prize. And just for the avoidance of doubt, I still think this is a really friendly forum, just have a look at the IwonIwon section.

    Just my 2p worth.

I have noticed that too, what's the point entering for a prize you can't use? There is plenty of comps on here so let someone else enter if they actually want the prize rather than greedily win something you won't use just to sell it on.

Yeah thats something I have noticed too, it seems silly.. I don't enter any competitions which involve tickets because I don't drive. I bet so many tickets go to waste too because more than often you're notified too near the event to be able to sell.
Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

My thoughts exactly, no way could I be bothered to keep lists, even if I had the time :D and any wins are a lovely bonus
Our Granddaughter, Caitlin Freya is now 7 years old :), growing up to be a lovely young lady and our Grandson, Findlay Ewan is 3 years old and still a lovable bundle of mischief :) one of each, how perfect
