What pushchair/pram to go for?

i'd just buy a buggy.
i had a gracco travel system and swapped it when DD was 12 months for a maclaren buggy as it was big and heavy and a pain to push on rough ground.
also please please don't use the car seat except in the car, it's really bad for your baby's back and can damage the spine if used for long periods your baby should be laying flat until it's a bit bigger and can hold up it's head.
i'm expecting number 2 at the mo and number 1 will be 23 months when the baby comes, no 1 will be in the pram or walking and number 2 will be in a sling as i can't afford a 3rd pram!0 -
At last a post i think i know enough about to reply too.
Just had a new baby 3 weeks ago and bought the Cassatto pram with accessories.
I cannot recommend this one highly enough. You actually get more accessories than the website shows thrown in for free such as mosquito net (usfull with the flys and stops mother -in -laws cats from sleeping in it) aswell as various bags.
So easy to put away and very very light. My Mother who just had her hip replaced 4 weeks ago was able to put it away and lift it into the car. The car seat is probably the most usfull thing as you can clip it too the buggy, which is handy when shopping on short trips. It also meant we didn't have to wake him when we stopped and could put him in the car seat before we left the house. This is usfull as we always seem to be late now we have a baby. Also takes about 40 sec to put on and off. very study and safe.
There are a lot of beaches near us and it was great for going along the sand and all terrain. Went well up steps aswell. Very monuverable
The only negative thing i can think of is you need to make sure your boot is big enough to take the chassey of the buggy. It fits well in my wifes Ford Fiesta.
If your husband is like me, he probably wants the other one as its cheaper, cause all of the baby costs soon add up and it is stressfull
Hope this helps. Ian:money: Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to everyone who has helped.0 -

Hi
I can't give any recommendation based on the website you really should see it and see how it feels for you to push etc. You'll be pushing it around for a few years so you need to be sure it suits you.
It depends how / what you intend to use it for but this what I bought and why.
I walk into our local town regularly so I had a pram that converted into a pushchair which I left in the hallway. It was brilliant because both of my children were comfortable in it and so slept well. Plenty of wriggle room which worries me about some of the newer ones I see around now. I also used to use it as a daytime sleeping place so if I was downstairs they could be near me and not in their cot. The shopping basket underneath was great for transporting shopping.
I also had a smaller pushchair for the back of the car.
It is much nicer if the pushchair is facing you because otherwise you spend your time peering over the top to see what they are looking at or trying to talk to them.

I bought a Phil and Teds pram which is GREAT for pushing around, however, folding it in half and putting it in and out of the boot is awful

And I compromised the comfort of my children in it too, they were so much more content in a Maclaren pushchair.
Some of the prams you see look very lightweight and trendy, but your best bet is to go in the Shops and see what you think, then shop online to be Moneysaving

I bought the mothercare one (I believe now you get it as a travel system although you probably don't need the car seat attachment if you don't need it) and was very happy with it. The things to consider when buying a pram are: the age you can use it from, how heavy is it? (the tag should tell you how many kgs), how many actions does it take to collapse it? (mine took just one but others could take 6), how much room does it take up in the boot of your car? If it has inflatable tyres then how will you fix it when you get a puncture?0

Hi
Still not decided and only 3 weeks to go!!! I think we are going to get a cheapish pram and then buy a separate lightweight pushchair in a few months.
Can't believe we haven't bought one yet!!!0
