Lower Fuel Duty Petition

  • When fuel prices rises then the VAT income also rises.
    So a 15p increase in forecourt prices gains 2.62p per liter in VAT. Hence fuel duty could be dropped by about 2p with no change in tax income.

    I paid £1.30 for diesel today and there are less than 200,000 signatures on this petition - I am frankly amazed at the apathy out there. Aside from the greed of oil companies which I don't think we will change, we are getting taken for a ride with the tax component of this.
