We started looking in Jan/Feb and we haven't moved in yet.

We started in August last year and haven't got there yet. I've come to the conclusion that it's easier in a rising market. At least HPI will compensate for any mistakes....

No. I just made it all up, to try to sound clever.
    Did I win?

Yup, but then I'm a woman with little discretion. :p

In that case there would be no harm in looking would there? If you have no danger of becoming "emotionally attached" and buying on that basis rather than "common sense" then you don't need to worry!

PS If you really are thinking of buying in 6 months (rather than in a couple of years) then it may be worth starting to look now, as houses are sticking around on the market and it may take time to find your "perfect" house. By that point you could be in a position to beat them down! We started looking in Jan/Feb and we haven't moved in yet.

I'm waiting far more than 6 months, my aim is to save up a £40k deposit so its going to be at least a year.

There is no point at all looking now, the property market has a long way to fall yet and is doing that.

I will be in a far better position to beat them down then rather than by a reduced but still overvalued property. Its a bit of common sense really.

If everyone waits prices will be far more affordable quicker:beer:

The less people view the better IMO.

It will bring on the so called Titanic effect quicker!

My sort of vague plan is to wait until my savings are about £250k, then buy something very very small, fuel efficient and as maintenance-free as possible. With very good transport links ... and never have to work again except for the sheer hell of it.

    :)

I've worked non stop since I was about 15. It's time I stopped worrying about where I'll end up and what'll become of me!

I think we are at the stage that the Titanic has hit the iceberg and is taking on water. They won't be able to stop it sinking now however it remains to be seen how long they can delay it going down.

We are obviously making offers to the first class passengers then, who expect to be rescued and don't think they have to do anything.......

Sod her. Where's that fit Leo boy?
Scrummy. I've got time to do him before the ship sinks.
(Note: I didn't mention anything about going down!)
