He's in big do do. Losing his job is the least of his worries. I wish I could give you the link to the you tube footage or the newspaper articles which would clearly demonstrate his troubles. However he needs to be protected at this time, he still might have a job some how.

Tell him to get his !!!! over here, we'll help.

We can teach him to meal plan, shop around, budget, get the best deals on pretty much everything, make some great online buddy's and of course make bread.:D

I know nothing about psychology whatsoever ... but I bet it's a stage of betrayal.

He's probably feeling betrayed by everybody and everything at the moment. Dragging himself into the office each day, wondering if each is his last. Sitting through half-perky sales meetings where people are trying to be upbeat, but each is looking around wondering who will be "the one" to go first.

Answering the phone, not wondering if this could be a buyer that will make him the commission he needs for that holiday in the sun next summer, but instead dreading picking it up in case it's a buyer pulling out ... as not only has he lost the commission he'd already mentally spent, but his next task would be to take abuse from the seller.

He's betrayed but having to go through the motions. Looking out for what he sees as a kindred spirit, somebody he feels he can confide in, to share his pain. A spot of empathy in the middle of an otherwise pointless day/week/month ... and now it seems, existence.

Let me guess - are you an EA or are you even Secret Agent? This tone of this post smacks of experience!

I read the packet and decided I needed to think about it a bit more. It wanted me to stop half way through the rising period, poke holes in the top and pour some olive oil in (this was a focaccia with garlic & rosemary). So I thought "how do I know it's half way" ... and then "surely this is the wrong shape (bucket) for this type of loaf" and then "hmmm .... need to learn more about taking the dough out and baking it separately in the oven. So I think to bake that one I need a loaf tin. So I put the pack away again.

Loaf 3 will happen... just not today.

Back to what the estate agent told me. He also stated not to look at any properties in the mean time. He stated that there is a danger that you could get emotionally attached to the property and buy on that emotion rather than common sense.

I tend to agree with him on this. There are plenty of examples on this forum alone that people have really got emotionally attached to a property. I have even seen this will friends who have bought houses off plan based on the show home even though house prices are falling fast and their home won't even be finished for a few more months.

It could save you tens of thousands of pounds.

Blimey how weak a person are you? Do you really need a !!!!ed estate agent to tell you not to look at properties in case you can't help yourself but to impulse buy a hundreds of thousands of pound house? If you believe in what you preach so strongly there is no way you would be "tempted" by the dark side of home ownership!

I'm not tempted in anyway. Its just nice when a vested interest such as an estate agent says don't buy. :o

In that case there would be no harm in looking would there? If you have no danger of becoming "emotionally attached" and buying on that basis rather than "common sense" then you don't need to worry!

PS If you really are thinking of buying in 6 months (rather than in a couple of years) then it may be worth starting to look now, as houses are sticking around on the market and it may take time to find your "perfect" house. By that point you could be in a position to beat them down! We started looking in Jan/Feb and we haven't moved in yet.
