  • Oh its been fun! My dad's car got stuck on the drive yesterday and we had to call the AA out! Then on Sunday our oil tank dial must have failed because we ran out of oil and can't get another delivery till the end of the week! It's freezing and not even saving money cos have got plug in heaters and storage heaters on! Electricity bill will be horrendous but what can we do? Need to start concentrating on saving money again but everything has been so mad. Need to start today-perhaps selling stuff on ebay.

  • Hello,

Congrats on your new baby! I'm 35 weeks with my first. I'm still working but took today off to rest as I'm very very tired and have started to get SPD (the pelvic dysfunction thing...) so a bit uncomfortable. Well done you for staying focused on moneysaving even with a new one in the house! Even if you're not doing as well as you'd like, you're still focusing on it and that's great! I'm afraid I'll just fall off the wagon completely when DS arrives! We don't have a freezer and only a very small fridge so can't prepare meals ahead....

I've just been sledging.......in the car!! tried to get DD2 to school but gave up, had to come up a steep hill and started slipping towards the edge (steep drop) Legs have just stopped wobbling!

Can you just 'live' in 1 room so you only have to heat that room? Last January all my oil leaked away underground and I had just had a delivery, so I know how you feel.

  • Thanks crazyaboutsaving-congratulations on your pregnancy-can completely sympathise with the last aches and pains-i was so uncomfortable towards the end and suffered with insomnia. Now I could sleep all day and all night but dd will not let me! The first 6 weeks are always a bit mad but as it is my 2nd i'm a bit more prepared this time! Also i want my money to last the whole 9 months this time-i was stupid with my money last time and got into debt. Lucielle-it's so awful when it is icy-really scary. We got an oil delivery after a couple of chilly days-horrible! I would be gutted if our oil went into the ground-you must have been gutted. have been letting dh do the shopping with a list and he has been doing really well. Well within budget. DS has a birthday party next week so just planning it at the moment.

  • DS will be three-can't believe where the time went. He is having about 20 kids and i went on a party website to order stuff for the party such as party bags, balloons and banners, boxes for food etc and managed to spend £75-eek! probably because i went for the easiest labour saving options it turned out so dear-feel really guilty but this year really have so much on my plate that have no time or transport to hunt out cheaper party bags or to do my own. The ready made party bags were 1.99 each and had to get 20 so there is the majority of the expense. Oh well at least i'm not spending it on me and next year I will definitely do a smaller party! Will ebay a few of my maternity things to make up the deficit! Just don't tell anyone from the OS board!

  • Thanks Lucielle! DH was clearing out the understairs cupboard yesterday as we are having a downstairs toilet put in and found lots of stuff to sell like DS v expensive startrite shoes that have been barely worn and wellies and maternity Isabella Oliver top so hopefuly can start making some money instead of squandering it! Really need to start a diet soon as feel like a horrible wobbly blob!

Good luck with the money making. Everybody who sells on ebay seems to do really well. Not really ventured down that path as to lazy.
