Right to start with you should check your HOSTS file as it sounds like the virus has put certain websites in here to block you from using them. To view your HOSTS file open it in notepad, depending on your operating system the HOSTS file can be found here:
Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98\ME = C:\WINDOWS
If you see anything like the following in this file then remove them as this will be what is blocking you visiting the sites:
127.0.0.1 https://www.amazon.com
127.0.0.1 https://www.amazon.co.uk
127.0.0.1 https://www.paypal.com
You can sefely remove all the sites listed in your HOSTS file not just the ones listed above.
If that isnt your problem then go here (click accept) and this will carry out an online virus scan for you. If your having trouble loading that site then download a trial version of Kaspersky anti-virus here.
Hope it helps.0 -
Mattjimf wrote:But if it's what i think it is it may not, i had the same kind of problem and when i tried opening msconfig it wouldn't open, in either case it helps narrow things down a bit.
I reckon I would get shot of the original antivirus they got on the PC
and install AVG with sygate as a good firewall.0 -

Whity999 what make of router do you have ?
Did you open up Port 443 as previously suggested ?
There is a good chance that this is your issue ( It is quite common for HTTPS ) . Let me know the exact model of your router and I will try to find you the instructions on how to open up this port.Be Kind0 -
You may have Nortons Anti Virus but how up to date is it? It may be you have a newer virus that it did not detect.
99% you are suffering from a virus. Especially when it will not let you log onto anti virus sites. What the virus has done is to add entries to your HOST file to stop you accessing them.
Do as above, log on in Safe mode and go to the Trent micros Housecall website as listed above.0
