Great stuff!
We have a thread started a couple of weeks ago on halloween partying with more tips on costumes and gory foods and so on so I'll merge this post into that one shortly.
Since posts are listed in date order, those of you who haven't seen that thread yet will have to start from the beginning to catch up with usHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Its my turn to host a Halloween party this year! Now that is scary!!!
I want to create a really eerie atmosphere in the house and thought about replacing all my light bulbs with green ones - does anyone know where I could get these from? Did think about spraying some plain ones with green paint - but worried they might give off toxic fumes when they heated up!!

You can paint 40W bulbs with glass paints if you have a craft shop.
I saw them done on Camden market and got a couple - one is blue with gold stars, the other green & red spirals. The nice lady told me about the wattage limit and the glass paints near me were 1.50 per small pot - the pots look like tiny inkwells but it goes a long way.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -
A cheap witches outfit for the kids:
Pinch one of dad's old large black t-shirts. Staple black binbags around the bottom to make a skirt. If you use about 2-3 bags bunched up it makes a long effective skirt part. Get the kids to glue and glitter stars moons cobwebs etc onto the tshirt part.
A couple of haloweens ago I got the butcher to supply me with a couple of pigs tongues, which I placed on two plates and garnished, with salad. I told the 8 & 9 yo that that was their haloween lunch. Unforntunately the 8 yo believed me and burst into tears:rotfl:0 -

Just come up with a good party pudding.
Slice the top from an orange and scoop out the innards..
Fill with black or red jelly and chill till set. Once they are set you can carve eyes teeth etc.. out of the front of the orange, kind of like a mini version of a carved pumpkin and you can eat them!
yumyum...What goes around... comes around...0 -

Tesco have a big range of Halloween stuff including 3D table confetti - little stars and pumpkins.
I got some small packs of plastic skeleton bones for sprinkling on the table at my local garden centre - they're from a company called Amscan and only cost !1.50 for 6 skulls and various other bones!!0
