I used to hate sprouts too - my mum always boiled them to death! overcooked sprouts are ghastly things! lightly cooked sprouts however, I could eat them on thier own with a bit of pepper and a knob of butter! I now count them as a favourite veg!
DO try cooking them for a maximum of6 - 8 minutes hun. I do mine for just 6 minutes and NO more.. I find if you can smell them cooking they are overdone!

Well the bubble and squeak with sprouts worked out well.
I cooked them first with onions, leeks, cumin seeds and chilli, mashed potato, lots of cheese and flour.

The kids enjoyed them , OH said he couldn't taste the sprouts so its a winnner:j

Oo sprouts pakoras, that sounds like a good one, especially when you can dip it in the curry or riata.

    Thanks again everyone, :D

Sorry but I am in the love em camp here. The secret is not too overcook, I like them steamed, rolled in butter, with bacon mmmmm.
Jamie O did a shred them up and sort of stir fry them recipe that looked good and something I keep meaning to try was something I saw about how they cook them somewhere in south america (think it was argentina) where they deep fry them them toss them in a sort of spicy salad type dressing.

    Hi
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone have any ideas for sprouts. I don't like them anyway, but my dad gave us 2 trees of them at christmas & I have no idea how to use them all, but don't want to throw them away!
    Thanks
    :)

couple of ideas and people who dont like sprouts have liked these dishes.

    Stir fried sprouts
trim your sprouts and slice them finely, then heat oil (sunflower, rapeseed or any oil which will take a high heat), in a wok or frying pan and add finely chopped onion, then finely chopped ginger (about an inch) and lastly finely chopped or crushed garlic. stir fry for two minutes until really hot - then serve as a side dish.

    roasted sprouts
trim sprouts and place in a roasting tray - add a couple tablespoons of olive oil, then season with salt and black pepper. toss the sprouts about to get them thoroughly coated and roast in a hot oven for 25 to 35 mins. delish
  • Boil or steam the whole lot, drain and freeze in batches.

Then eithe add to veg soups, or defrost and make lots of bubble and squeak in the coming months. Serve with lashings of gravy.

    Hmm....gravy

Or give them all to me. :D
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I like them just as they are so I personally would freeze them and use as the veg part of a meal.

However, if you don't I understand you can stir fry them as said above but mix with bacon as well.
