I nick the top of the sprouts with a small knife and roast for about 20 mins - cover with a teatowel to keep warm as you peel them as they are tricky to peel once cold. I got 2 big bags for 40p in tesco and have roast peeled and frozen them ready to toss with the sprouts. Yummy.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I'm told that the trick is to nick (or cut the pointy ends off) all of the chestnuts except one.
Put the chestnuts in a roasting tin with the uncut one in the middle and cover them all with foil. Cook at a medium type temperature until the uncut one pops - and you will hear it

I'm lovnig that idea!!! I am definately going to add chestnuts to my xmas shop just to hear one go POP!!!

Cut a small slat in each chestnut, put into oven, take out eat with salt yum yum. Throw sprouts in the nearest bin. They are the food of the devil and shouldn't even be in our food chain.0

I would do the chestnuts in small batches in the microwave. They are impossible to peel when they are cool. Small slit and then microwave.
However, if all else fails, Waitrose sells ready peeled chestnuts in their frozen foods section, that's what I'm getting this year.0 -

Love it,I am told that as a small child I would eat the Chestnuts and spit the sprouts at my Brother. Presume if we had sprouts and Chestnuts Santa had already been as I am sure I would not have been so naughty.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Slimming World at target0 -
My OH boils the sprouts for around 5 mins, He then cooks the chesnuts in the oven and peels them, they go in the wok with a good slug of oil and some chopped up bacon and get stir fried, it's yummy. I'm saying this as someone who blimmin hates sprouts:hello:

Hi all,
Okay here it i have loads of sprouts leftover from xmas and basically we the family can't stand them. The only reason we bought them was for my FIL as he does.
Anyways were on a non-food throwaway thing as the moment, so were basically eating everything in the fridge, freezer. So freezer surprise is on the cards.
I've tried boiling , made them taste even worse, steaming, i even fried them with chorizo and they tasted okayish.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make sprouts not taste like sprouts lol
Cheers peeps:)0
