No more child tax credits..advice please

thanks for replies everyone i think i may have sorted i was just in a state from them saying no to me twice grrrrrrrr
i feel a bit better as i did the entitle too link and that said yes,i also been on phone with jobcentre spoke with a lovely lady she said if i get CB i should get tax credits she said i should ring college to get them to send me a letter to say its advanced A level course ( have done that) then send letter off to Child tax credits, she also said its not the first time they have done this to people.
I have also rang CB and they said i will deffo still get CB, dont think the people at child tax know what they are on about they just good at saying no all the time.

I wonder if the course does not lead to a formal qualification? I can't find it listed anywhere.

BTW the sixteen hour rule for education is for adults claiming JSA/ HB etc ... I didn't realise that it was different for TC/ CB purposes either.

Edit: Think I have answered my own question - is it the OCR Level 2 Diploma, or I think there is a BTEC qual also?

It's a BTEC ND so a level 3 course and my suggestion is that the CTC office also consider going to college. Clearly they haven't a clue. Don't worry, as long as you are receiving CB you will get the rest for him (CTC, HB, CTB, health costs).
Why oh why are people not trained properly? :mad:

my oldest son went to college doing a higher level course my sons child benefit stoppped my child tax credits for him and was not emtitled to ema as the course was a higher course he did however get a student loan and bursery he dropped out and me tax credits and child bebefit was re instated while he did a course witht he careers center called 1st steps to work.
If your son is on a basic level course not a degree course or equivalent yoou should get child benefit
When i rang the child benefit they had to read up on there rules as where we live you can start a degree level equivalent at 16, usually it is 18

Sqiggle..Have you thought about what you are going to do financially when he does leave full time education and you lose his child benefit and CTC.

Or are you just going to worry about that at the time?

Income support for long term sick?? I thought it was incapacity benefit for that??

squiggle37 may not have qualified for IB and therefore would be claiming IS for reason of Incapacity. Alternatively, she may get premiums on IS due to her health condition that enable her to claim IB and IS.

I have no idea what im going to do with money as im signed off sick till july 2009, fingers crossed i may have had my brain op by then and everything should be back to normal, cant get incap as i hadnt paid enough NI as i was only working part time..thats a different story tho.
Also i tried for DLA and got turned down even after i appealed so i gave up with them.
