One final update from me re this post. My account is now fully up and running having transfered money into it from my Coop Cashminder (such transfers both from and too been very easy to set up online).

I hope this account will actually grow in value unlike some of my previous abortive savings attempts and indeed one of the reasons that attracted me too it was the fact that it did not come with a cash card so you can't simply go to a cash machine to get your money out (which is also one of the reasons it offers a better rate of interest).

You can still get at your money easily enough but only via online transfer say to my Cashminder but the process of doing to should give me enough pause for thought to only do it if needs really be or for a specific purpose such as buying a car. However my primary Intention for this account is as a financial 'lifeboat' to protect against at least some of the vagaries that life throws at you on occasion.

    All the best.

Yay! Praxis - thanks for the update and it would appear it's all working,, without too much difficulty, on your part! The financial "lifeboat" is exactly what I was looking for with this, rather than it sitting in a tin under my bed ready for me to "grab & go" if I was short of cash. Now I have to think, do I really need it? - Probably not! So cash is no longer burning a hole in my pocket - or the tin under my bed - it's actually doing something and well out of reach!!

I'm just as frustrated to hear about the annoying runaround that philnicandamy has had with this and I agree, it's really not worth the hassle, either they want the business or they don't - who's the customer here?
However, I checked my credit file today and indeed Sainsbury's left a "footprint" on my file, but again, still no contact from them to ask for any further proof about me - address, identity or BR dishcarge. Just goes to show what we were saying before ....... it really is just how the wind blows!

I just want to say, in no way am I advertising this product as a sure thing...... I think we've all seen that Sainsburys have obviously treated people differently...... however, that's three easy sucesses that I know of (myself included) - post discharge - so I still think it's worth a punt!

well....had a phonecall yesterday message left on my answermachine couldnt understand a word of what the guy was saying!

The guy rang back this morning.......He was ringing regards my complaint against opening the account what the person said on the phone etc etc

well they've decided now after all this they'll open the account for me as i've supplied enough information & the "copy" of my discharge cert should have been enough as i'd apparently received a pretty high score in the ID checks etc...whatever that means!

anyhow thankfully I can now have an account with them....and for the inconveniance they'll credit the account with £40 as an apology!! (now all I need is some spare cash to put in the bloomin thing!)

Hmm it shouldnt have happened though....and according to the manager that rang everything is under review now for any new applications..they dont credit check never have its the ID check they pulled me up on..all because the "copy" of the discharge I sent once they had scanned everything onto their system the court logo on the form wasnt very clear..I should never have been turned down though according to what they say...

still..........£40 will come in handy thank you very much ;);)
