ok, i'm not completley OS yet! i love the smell of washing powder when i put my clothes on... does anyone use liquid instead of powder??
i use surf and i looooove it and better still Tesco have it on offer the big surf liquid for 3.50 normally 6pound odd!! i needed some but held off buying it until it came on offer again! the small bottle does 18 washes and normally costs 2.70ish but the bigger bottle that does 42 washes was on offer!
my mum converted me into using this because she thinks powder clogs up the WM and because i live in a rented house where the WM was supplied i dont want to wreck it?
anyone else prefer the liquid? Now a mother to my beautiful daughter OliviaBorn 10th Dec 2010 weighing 7lb 1oz:A

I'm sure someone was in here not long ago saying an engineer had said liquid was bad for the machine as it causes the gunk to build up.
I do also remember someone saying you should alternate from one to the other, as one counteracts the bad effects of the other.0 -
I only use Tesco value laundry liquid, partly because my machine doesn't seem to use enough water to dissolve powders and also because it has no smell...can't stand things too fragrant!...oh yes, and because its 75p for 20 washes.
I agree with the above though, it does make my machine a bit gunky, so I have to clean the drawer every now and again.Just when I'm about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends0 -
If you use basics powders but want the 'april fresh' smell, try using essential oils. You can get these pretty cheaply from pound shops. Just add a drop or two in with the powder.
Alternatively you can get cheap perfume/aftershave from pound shops that would probably sear your skin off if you used it on yourself, but it works quite well in scenting clothes either if mixed with powder or diluted into a spray to spray on while the clothes are drying.'Never keep up with Joneses. I always use the tablets(own brand) but I notice some good offers with powder.
Please you experienced OSers which is the way to go?
I need help as a certain person blew £20.00 on fizzy drinks yesterday!!0 -
Are you in a hard water area? If yes I would avoid powder - unless you put it in the drum in a dosing ball - as it clogs up the drawer/machine!
You can make it go further by using half powder half soda crystals - they're dead cheap!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
The tesco own powder is not bad, but you need softener with it. I quite like the Bold 2 in 1 liquid, and somerfield sometimes have it on 2 for £5. I buy whats on offer in bulk and keep it in my garage (sad i know) but as i've tried most of them now i know whats good/isn't. What often comes on offer is the persil small and mighty original 1.5l and when its £4 its a steal!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

I use the cheapest powder, sometimes with washing soda to eke it out further (mixing it about half and half). I do wash the drawer out from time to time, but no real problem. Washing is clean, so no complaints!Resolution:
