The OH won't use powder as it blocks the drawer. Uses liquid poured in the draw or in a ball into the wash.0

That's what I found when I bought a new washer last year. I have always used powder before, always used less than recommended amount as I had been told that the amounts given were excessive and could block the machine.
I now try to wash at 30 degrees for a lot of things (teenage daughter gets changed about 3 or 4 times a day and just leaves things on the floor to be washed again) and again the powder doesn't really like it.
I have only recently started using liquid for these times, but still use powder for a longer and warmer whites wash. Not sure what I will do when the powder runs out.0 -
Sorry for duplicating a thread, I did search first but obviously not hard enough! Still new to posting, thanks for moving it Nile.
Thanks for the replies.

The key thing is if your finding powder stuck to the inside of the draw you are using too much powder for your machine. I did my work experience at a WM repair company. One machine was just blocked completely and took loads of cleaning to shift the stuff.
When I bought my first washing machine it was a second hand dyson. It does absolute wonders no matter what poweder / liquid I use. The only problem I have is that the rinse is too good. The clothes have no smell and I have to use double FC if I want any scent. I'm happy without a scent as it only indicates that there is residues in the clothes!Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -
I must say I changed from Asda Value big box a couple of years ago to Easy Aloe(ello) Vera liquid coz I found it was bleaching out the coloured. The Easy liquid is great for my coloureds, clothes are never mucky as such just really need a freshen up so tend to do them on a 30'. Bedding & towels I do with the Value powder, went back after noticing the machine was smelling & do a maintenance wash about once a month or so. The machine is only on say twice a fortnight lol. Never use fc, waste of money. Easy laundry and household cleaners you buy from local houseware shops & the friendly ethnic grocers. hth:)0

Hi
Looking for some advice please !
I am currently a washing liquid type of gal but am finding it a bit difficult to find any that are good value at the mooent seeing as asdas have put up the price of their own brand liquid .
I had a little nosey at the powders today and noticed that the asda smartprice washing powder was a lot cheaper and also the shelf was nearly empty so is this a good sign that it is good or were they waiting for a delivery ????
has anyone tried the asda smart price powder and what did you all think ??Rent Arrears [STRIKE]£210[/STRIKE] £110

I haven't tried asda's smartprice powder, but Sainsbury's Basics washing powder is only £1.68 for 3kg and I can vouch for it's efficiency. Even gets out mud from DS2's football strip - and this can be a challenge for Ariel or Persil.
Hopefully Asda's will be just as good for you.

I have used smart price and Sainsbury's basic they are both just as good, if you are a little unsure try mixing a small box of Daz with it - personally I don't - it is a good all round powderBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I have found, generally, that powders clog my rather ancient machine up, and sometimes leave streaks on my washing. But that may just be me.Debt cleared! [strike]£13,128[/strike] £0!!!
